Yes indeed Leeds are the proverbial sleeping giants. I remember a few years back they played Doncaster Rovers at Wembley in a play off game. I was working in a Midtown bar & was maybe expecting 20 or so in for the game, which incidentally kicked off at 8.30 AM (Local time) & over a 150 turned up to watch the game (they lost 1-0). At The Football Factory even to watch Liverpool this Sunday who would be a big draw you'll probably only get 20/30 Palace fans Tops!!

If Leeds came up, it would take several years of both clubs having similar fortunes before he'd FO to them. They'd need several years of PL revenue I think.

So in short I don't see an army of candidate clubs for him now or in the near future. Looking at the PL itself, i see nobody. And, like Leeds, promoted sides will mostly need time to bed in.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

Not sure you are right there anymore.

We are on the cusp of 5 straight seasons in the Premier League and have had an FA Cup Final.

We have a £30m striker and cladding on the Main Stand.

Very, very different club these days.

Even then it would only happen if he wanted to move back up north. Living in London on mega bucks is the massive pull we have over most teams in the prem. There is simply no better city in the country and a lot of people think in the world, to be living as a wealthy person.

I think he might see this as a chance to build something, maybe for his last job. See how far we can go with good financial backing and a solid team to work with from the start. Happy to have him for a few years whatever happens, it's time we kept a manager for a while.

I don't see big teams going for him and I think we'd keep him if a relegation battler or mid table team had a go. He only sounds committed to CPFC tbh

He has said he likes liking in London as well, either in a press conference or in his book (worth a read by the way)

Great post, totally agree. Are Old Corinthians still a big club?

Exactly. The only place I've heard (current) Leeds United referred to as a "big club" and destined for big things is on TalkSh!te. And they barely believe that we even exist.

The 'sleeping giant' thing is complete nonsense these days. Ultimately you're as big as your owner is wealthy and that's basically all that matters. Chelsea were never in contention for the league until Abramovich took over and City have spent time in league 1 within the last 20 years but now, thanks to mega rich chairman, are two of the three biggest clubs in the country.

Yep, valid points and I hear what you're saying. The whole thread is hyerthetical but if Leeds do come up via the play offs - which they could do as that's exactly how we got promoted a few years back - then their profile will be raised again very quickly. Primarily because of their history and then fan base which is potentially massive. They get the wind behind their sales - which can be done without spending silly money - due to momentum, teamwork & belief then their appeal will improve.

As someone else just said, it's like saying Bournemouth are a bigger club than Leeds! They're not ... for numerous reasons. It just happens that their league position and 'relative' finances are. But as we know, being in the Prem changes that dramatically. In the same way our reality will be dramatically changed if we were relegated ... which is a possibility, especially with our run in.

If If If. And you say YOU are getting bored.

Whilst that is to a large extent true crowd attendances and marketing do still play a part thanks to FFP rules

You do talk a lot of old pony eh! First you state categorically that we will embark on a 5th season in the top flight! Seen the results today per chance?!

And by your reckoning Bournemouth are a bigger club than Leeds too!!!

Youse a strange one eh!
