My gut still says we can stay up.
We're not that far adrift of Leicester and Middlesbrough. I dunno why, I just think we'll nick it.

Sunderland, Leicester, Hull, Swansea and Middlesborough of the same thinking will all be saying the same thing about their chances: 3 of them are going to be wrong.

Better not be you.

I will be blaming Par.....t time James.

More hoping that Steve will have talked to Sam about staying on next season if that's what he wants even if (when) we do go down so the fella can think ahead.

This is not just a 'focus on the next match' scenario. Other stuff has to be looked at like scouting and the academy and facilities for training, etc. If those problems aren't addressed in tandem we will continue floundering into the future.

I was shocked when I saw Leicester yesterday.
Last season we saw great energy from Vardy, Okazaki, Mahrez etc etc and the team played with verve, counter-attacking with pace and purpose.Yesterday they seemed leaden-footed and totally flat with that vital drive missing. And the atmosphere in the stadium was totally flat as well.

One keeps hearing about the players not being happy with Ranieri - maybe there is something in it and they aren't playing for him anymore ? As they say "No smoke without fire".

Yeah I agree. I think we can stay up (as you say, all the others will be thinking the same about their clubs). It's nothing more than a feeling in my water that we will stay up. If we go down I'll start drinking different water.

Every chance to stay up. I cling to the fact that our new players did not play yesterday. Only 2 points away from safety. Stranger things have happened.

Even if we do stay up it has still been the worst season since George Burley.

It would appear that we're not going to see two of those starting anytime soon:

I should caveat, playing like we did against Sunderland we won't get another point and we'll be rock bottom. I acknowledge that. But we haven't played like that against everyone. We're inconsistent, partially I think because we're so low on confidence, but I have a small amount of hope that our inconsistency will lead to a couple of decent performances totally against the run of form.

We really needed players to come in straight away and to "Hit the ground running" - think Swansea and Hull.Apart from PVA it looks like the "Same old, same old" against Stoke and maybe after this game and this is deeply worrying. I accept we won at Bournemouth and deserved to, but Bournemouth concede a lot of goals and are not in the sparkiest of form.

I agree, and I'm sure Sam would to, but it looks like we had to balance the quality we wanted against who'd be prepared to join us. I get the impression that the Milivojevic visa-issue wasn't foreseen, which tells me that we really do need a transfer professional (a Director of Football) to deal with the administration.

A serbian coming to England from playing in Greece and no-one foresaw it?

This morning now I have slept properly and my hangover has lifted... We can do it I don't know how. I don't think we will but we could. The opportunity is still there. It's not over yet. Mentally it probably is but mathematically we are not down yet.

Preparing for a possible return to the championship doesn't mean giving up on surviving in the prem which is what all of your multiple mr. miserable posts say on every thread on this subject.

It's easy for those, like yourself, miles away from this to say what you say, but not for us. And we shouldn't be writing ourselves off anyway. We've seen teams thrashed at home and people trying to get at managers, photos of fans pointing and hurling abuse at them and they still survive.

If we do go down you'll be relying on Palace Player, BBCRadio or biased local northern radio again and back from the game threads.

If it was, Sam gives the impression he didn't get the message.
