We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

That was the last league game we won without Puncheon.

Trying to get my head around this. What exactly does this mean? He's played in so many of the games that we haven't won so surely it means nothing?

If all fit then this would be my 4-4-1-1 My belief is that if Luka (I will learn how to spell his surname at some point) is playing the defensive midfield role then we do not need 3 centrebacks, well certainly not against the lower teams at home anyway.

Hennessey

Ward Dann Sakho PVA

Luka

Zaha Puncheon McArthur Schlupp

Cabaye
Benteke

I can also see this system working if Remy plays at the expense of Puncheon and Cabaye drops back into midfield proper. I believe this set up plays to the strengths of the guys in those positions. I agree there is a time and a place to play 5 at the back, but Sunderland at home is probably not one of them.

It's pretty meaningless I agree.

Plus, if you wanted to, you could suggest that maybe it means he under performs in too many games.

Is it based on Terry Venables Christmas tree?

We have only won premier league matches when Punch plays.

We also very rarely win when Cabaye is on the pitch at 90 minutes.

He had been subbed again last night and we won.

It looks more like a formation lined up to face chariots.

Or an arrow head pointing at the goal marching at ramming speed to the sound of the HF drum......so no back passes allowed.

Technically it would be the league play offs (or final), but disturbingly that could be true, if you drop FA Cup games. I certainly couldn't find anything that suggested otherwise. He even featured in Holloways only stand out win, against Sunderland.

Much as I'd like to see Luka play (he should be fit after all) I think Sam will stick with the team he played against Bournemouth. His primary goal is to keep clean sheets and three CB's is his recipe for that. Even though we are at home Sam will be perfectly happy with another 2-0.

But I would think that if he again needs to replace McArthur later on as has been the case with his work rate we will be bringing on Milevojevic and not Ledley.
