I'm disappointed in Sam - why did he play Schlupp in this pointless game? Did he expect him to play again on Tuesday and then next Saturday? He hadn't been playing regularly before he joined us so needed time to get full match fitness. If he hadn't been asked to play 90 minutes in his first game he might not have cramped which caused us to lose the game!! He could've played Friers yesterday. So what if we were beaten 5-0 ? that didn't do West Ham any harm in the last round of the cup!
Of course a hammy could go at any time but to do it in a pointless game like that ? -crazy. Sam made the same mistake playing the best players away to Arsenal but he had the excuse of being very new to the club then. That mistake could well have cost us the game at home to Swansea and I just hope that this time it doesn't cost us points this week, If we lose these 2 then our position will be bad.

I said he needed time to get match fit - I didn't mean match time of 3 games in a week - that should be obvious to anyone !!!!
3 games in a week to get him fit?
- that's just stupid and the injury is proof of how stupid it was. We pay over the top to get in what we think is a vital player for league survival and then burn him in a waste of time cup game - just stupid!!

I'm a fanof Sam but I'm reqlly surprised at him making the same mistake twice !!!!

The only way to get match fit is to, you know, play matches.

How do you propose achieving match fitness without playing matches? Would he have been any more match fit on Tuesday then, if he hadn't played Saturday? And you said yourself that a hamstring injury could happen at anytime, so arguably it could have occurred in training on Monday instead, could it have not? Dann has a hamstring injury currently; was that as a result of his being or not being match fit? I understand that Schlupp has had a previous hamstring injury; did that occur when he was or wasn't match fit?

I suppose the guaranteed way to avoid injuries of any sort is to just not play them at all, but that would seem to rather defeat the point of buying them in the first place.

If Sam deemed Schlupp fit enough to play 90 minutes against Everton then he didn't have to play him yesterday to get fit for Tuesday against Bournemouth !

Yes the injury could happen any time but why risk him in a pointless game. Am extra few days till Tuesday could have made a difference. We don't have the luxury of a guaranteed replacement for him in this supposedly vital position. Justifying him playing yesterday by saying he was getting match fit is rubbish. It was an unnecessary risk and it backfired. The proof is in the pudding as they say !
