Not convinced he'd make it even 2nd time round at a top 6.
He just hasn't quite got the footie brain for that level.
But it's a close call

Do yourself a favor and watch real quality Palace players like Sansom , Wright , Taylor , Cannon , etc etc ~ Players that are quality every week ~ Actually youy can add one current player to that list ~ James McCarthur .

The fact that you have to go back to 1991 to find a player worth mentioning in your list is telling. McArthur is great but he is a totally different type of player. I only have 27 years under my belt, but that's long enough to know that (in modern history ) Zaha is one of the best players we've had.

Your right McArthur is totally different
He plays well every week
Zaha is exciting when he is ON ,
BUT this is the premier league , you gotta consistently cross well and finish well and NOT give the ball away easy .

Better palace wingers than Zaha in history ?

Peter Taylor , Don Rogers .

As much as I loved Vince Hilaire , Zaha and him are too similar , flattered to deceive .

I can't really comment on Taylor or Rogers as I wasn't born until 1979. Thinking on it in my lifetime we have had Lombardo (briefly) and Salako who are up there, but I think that's about it.

Anyway, the key for me is that Zaha looks like he's starting to progress this season and I don't think it would take much to push him on even further. I think I just get annoyed when people talk as if Palace would be better off selling him.

One thing Wilf has, that neither Rogers or Taylor could match, is there sheer range of ways he can go past a player.

Sometimes, he beats them through his first touch, flicking the ball one way but body swerving the other, leaving the defender flummoxed.

Against Brighton (in the 2-0 away victory in the play offs) he beats his defender without even touching the ball. As pass is played into him and he lets it run and turns past his marker, who's still three seconds behind in thought processing. Zaha leaves his for dead. ends up. (Watch the goal on Youtube.) He actually makes it look easy, but its his timing and movement are incredible.

Then he's got all manner of tricks for sending the defender one way, then the other.

Rogers was brilliant, and very fast too, but I still think Wilf is even better.

Wilf is good with some amazing trickery he uses to beat players but Don Rogers was a class above. He played on ploughed fields and still went past opponents with consummate ease. He was also considerably faster than Wilf with phenomenal acceleration over the first 4 or 5 metres which just left opponents for dead. He also finished with either foot. At the time he was playing he was having to do it on his own, quite often from a deep position, but you always got butterflies when he got the ball because you sense he could do it on his own. His only real fault was that he sometimes went missing in away games.

I am determined to live until I am as old as I look.

Yes, he's not the finished article, but of course we should try to keep him. He's by far our most dangerous player.

What am I saying? He's our ONLY dangerous player. Just get him on the ball as much as possible, preferably in the box.

The problem with a lot of fans (ours in particular) is that they think their players are better than they are. Zaha is a case in point. Yes, he scored a wonder goal yesterday, but other than a couple of wasted crosses and a couple of fouls on him, he was invisible for most of the game against the bottom side in the division. And that's why he hasn't been called up for England. Now he's gone off to Africa in a huff and leaves us short of payers for a month or so. Yes. he's improved this season, but he still needs to improve his decision-making. Perhaps a bigger club would suit him, but it could be another Man Utd for him.

Was going to post this. He's not as good as we all think. Against the Swansea's and the like he is decent. Against the big boys he disapppears. He is certainly good enough to have another go with one of the bigger clubs though to see if he can rise to the occasion playing in a much better team.

Reckon it'll be interesting how we'll play while he's at the AFCON.

He's improved a Lot this season - but still trys to do way too much every time he gets the ball, he seems to lose the ball alot.
Perhaps, while he is away, we will be forced not to rely on him so much, and the team will be better for it. We have Andros who is a ready made replacement on the right - who may actually benefit from Zaha not being there, and a gaping hole on the left, which will most likely be filled by Mutch Or Lee.
you never know!

"It was a Team effort, I guess it took all players working together to lose this one"
