Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

For me the issue isn't his contribution going forward, I think he's really lazy. I don't think Kelly's a better player just on the right hand side of defence, I think he benefits from getting more protection there from Wilf when he's on that side. Townsend's position is very ropey when he's covering back and he seems to always put himself in a position where he can be taken out of the game with a simple pass. That's why I think Pardew has lost patience with him, because he's not been working hard enough.

Pardew and Parish must be very satisfied with what they've seen from Townsend so far - he's displaying the sort of form he has for most of his career. What we are seeing is the Andros I've certainly become accustomed to at his various clubs, and consequently the player who has impressed our hierarchy so much to splash out £13m. Pardew and Parish have got exactly what they paid for.

I was happy with the signing, thinking he would bring his England form. Obviously he has not settled. For a 25 Year old he has played for a lot of clubs already. 12 !!!! 9 on loan. Is reminding me of Wayne Routledge. Hopefully he improves along with the team in the second half of the season. That many! ...could soon be ten! ...and everyone can see why, shame he can't.
