I believe all he was doing was implying that he is more 'Kevin Keegan' than 'Tony Pulis' that's all. But with his 'Stock' being somewhat low amongst many, anything he says will be met with criticism. If he had said that clean sheets WERE his priority he would have met with a barrage of vitriol given that we haven't kept one for 17 league matches. At the end of the day he is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. Edited by Willo (08 Nov 2016 2.08pm)

Having now read the article I see that he actually said: "Anyone who knows the way I manage, I like my teams to be on the front foot and score goals, so clean sheets have never been the top of my priority," he said. "But, of course, they are important and I have been looking for one, because it will give us the foundation to win a game."
I reckon it could simply be a case of he has to stop losing or he's a goner so the squad now have two weeks of defensive training drills before the Citeh game.
Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five! |

Strange days indeed No, all he had to say publicly was ...."any manager worth his salt would know that you have to have a solid defence first and foremost and with regards to our dreadful defensive record, as manager it's down to me to sort the problems out which, I am currently on my way to the training ground to start. Basically the buck stops with me" Basically taking responsibility!

But he also said he likes his teams to be on the front foot. Errm, how many times this season has the other lot scored first? Where has he been looking for his clean sheet? In the laundry basket? Pardew cant win whatever he says ! However, we are in a worrying trend of giving every visitor to Selhurst Park a green light to defend well and believe they will get a chance to nick a winner. It appears we are missing Jedi's defensive qualities more than we thought, but did we not sign Flamini purely because that is his strength ? It is baffling and history shows (even in our recent past)the teams near the bottom that conceed less have a better chance of survival.......hence the reason why Pulis has never been relegated. Seem to remember we won the division below in 78-79 by letting in less goals than any team in the country, except Liverpool. If you keep clean sheets, you dont get beat !!

We won Div 2 (Old) in 78-79 conceding only 24 goals in 42 games, keeping 21 clean sheets in the process.

Wow has he lost the plot or what, Now stating that clean sheets have never been his priority and we rather than moan, should sit back and watch the entertaining type of football we are playing, I though the first rule of football was not to concede goals. In any case as a real supporter. I just like to see my team win, That might be lucky or not any way it comes is fine by me. If it came to a choice of exciting football but losing and leaking goals most games, that's not for me. I actually go to all home and some away games to watch my team win, I get no pleasure out of saying beaten 4-2 but didn't we do well, that don't work for me, So sooner he goes the better. ..you're supporting the wrong team! and with that 4-2 you have looked at the table recently haven't you?
