Am very concerned with our preparation, concentration and match fitness.

We continue to be so slow out of the blocks. Yesterday Liverpool were quicker, sharper and more enthusiastic to get win every second ball. Exactly the same against West Ham in the first half they pressed us in numbers and we looked lost an slow to react.

This Is the responsibility is Pardew and his back room team. The two headed goals by Liverpool from set pieces yesterday clearly showed that very little preparation had been done defensively leading up to the game. There was also a point in the game when we had a corner and it was played short to Wilf when it was clear to all that Liverpool struggle with quality balls put into the box.

Still highly regarded by people in the game tho. Our take on things from outside is irrelevant as we only see what happens on match days. No football clubs care about fans anymore since they sold everything to tv coverage. Only have to look at ko times to see that. Anyhow if some people get their wish and Ap goes who takes over. Keep asking and no one has yet come up with a viable alternative.

The problem with saying that we're transitioning is that he has been here for nearly 2 seasons now and has had three transfer windows to create the team he wants. By now he should have the style of play and squad that he wants in place.

Our lack of squad depth is of major concern to me. I agree we miss Souare but it was the same thing last season when McArthur and Dann got injured. Sure, any team will miss their best players but not to the extent where their form completely collapses. On paper our strongest 11 will give any team in the division a game, however sometimes I look at our bench and it terrifies me. We effectively have half a Premier League squad and the other half Championship level. I don't know whether this is the fault of Pardew or the owners, but it's something that needs addressing in January and the summer.

Our bench yesterday says a lot of where we are at. Our defensive cover was Zeki Fryers. Our striker cover was Fraizer Campbell.... Not good.

We gave them far to much respect yesterday. It was mental how far we stood off them and how much space we gave them.

I think that's 4 or 5 wins in our last 30 Prem games now. Some on here seem to think we should be happy with just staying up. I'd like to think that after 4 seasons in the Prem and spending £30 million or so on a striker we should be aiming a bit higher than that.

We won 3 on the spin against poor opposition and everybody seemed to think we had turned a corner. Now we've played a few sides with some quality and were struggling again...

I'm not a Pardew fan but I would like us to succeed with him in charge. Personally I don't think it will happen.

I think the overall quality and strength of the squad is much improved compared to our first season in the PL, but we are still competing against a lot of teams (like Liverpool) who have had the PL £££££s for years if not decades lomger than we have, and have invested in excellent players, so there are still a lot of PL teams who have better squads than us. Up front we have one PL level striker, maybe two if Remy ever gets fit and stays fit. We dont really have a genuinely creative midfield playmaker. It will take time to fill these positions. So matches are still going to be an uphill struggle. But this season we have money to invest in January, so hopefully we wont be flirting with relegation this season. But lets not get carried away. Its a great achievement to stay in the PL, and a top half finish would be great.

Have we got a defensive coach? if we have he needs to get the players in for extra work, if not we need to get one in ASAP. AP is missing the point if he blames the ref Liverpool should have scored more goals from open play as in the Bournemouth and WH games we could not cope with the pressing of our defenders until they tired in the second half. Lots of hard work is needed not so sure about AP having the players onside at the moment to achieve it.

Pretty much sums up how I feel.

I think Pardew will be sufficient for this season but we risk stagnating as a club if we continue with him for too long. For all the money spent in the summer the squad is no stronger, if fact I'd argue it's marginally weaker with the loss of Bolasie, Gayle's replacement Remy is yet to play and trying to make a point by selling Jedinak only to panic and bring in a half retired Flamini and end up giving Ledley, an inferior version of Jedinak, more game time.

Pardew deserves praise for being able to bring in the likes of Benteke and Cabaye, there is no point in sacking him for a similar level manager, it needs to be someone who's an obvious level up like a Klinsmann, Pellegrini. Or one of the younger managers like Dyche or Howe who obviously think more intelligently about the game than Pardew.

My thoughts exactly. I would think that irrespective of Pardew's form If the board have invested this much money they would certainly be looking for better than 15th !

Good points, particularly in strengthening in Jan, unlike last season. If we stay up this season think it will be a record in the top flight for the club, so can't be doing everything wrong in recent times.

No, they showed two players making a hash of their assignments. The manager, love him or hate him cannot do the job for them. As for short corners, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't, just like regular corners.
Too much is being read into losing against a quality outfit who ran us ragged. These are not the games to judge us IMO, but we do deserve credit for not just sitting back and then fighting back twice and with decent refereeing maybe even three times. If we had been as defensive as some claim then Macca wouldn't of been in front of goal to get those two goals. Like the whole of 2016 we were very nearly good enough. Frustrating. I'd play Flamini over Ledley.

Absolutely spot on. The only bright spot is that other clubs have equally bad squads beyond the first 11. There's probably half a dozen teams in the Premiership who would be crippled by 1 or 2 key players out. We are one, unfortunately.

Look at West Brom's bench yesterday- their striking options were Hal Robson Kanu and a 17 year old youth player. Their defensive option was a 20 year old on loan from Everton.
