Getting in a good player on a free is a very good thing as far as I'm concerned.
He will pick up his fair share of yellows though and maybe the odd red.

Fair point from an anti Jedi fan!
I happen to think that we have lost a part of our heart and soul and captain and is there a simular leader to carry it on?
Everyone is entitled to an opinion so let's see if it works out or is another Adebeyor type signing.

Agree. Whilst Flamini is a useful addition, he can't replace a unique player like Jedinak. Would have preferred to see Ledley or Mutch go, Ledley probably does a role similar to Flamini but Flamini is better in his passing and tackling. We no longer have the tactical option of Jedinak which would have benefitted us in more physical games; marking Fellaini at Man utd, Deeney for Watford, Carroll for West Ham, West Brom.

Still, we have what we have now, we ought to be better in the passing department.

So we have a replacement for Cabaye :-)

Flamini is a DM, like Jedinak, but with a different, and I think many would agree superior, set of skills. He won't have the same physical presence, in terms of height, but he sure can tackle and, more importantly, he can put in a more than decent pass. We should now have enough quality to deal with penalties and free kicks, which were not what Jedinak was employed for. 'Big personality' or no, Jedinak was a squad player last season.

When Jedi was missing the team played even more poorly though!

So are you trying to say that replacing a player who has spent his entire career in substandard leagues until his rise with Palace to the Premiership with a player who has spent the majority of his career playing Champions league football is a bad move?

Jedi had heart, was a great leader but couldn't pass for toffee. We have many players who can take free kicks and penalties and also a big squad for set play.

I would say that you are struggling to see class difference in players and failing to understand that certain players can only take something so far before they need to be upgraded for the better of the club.

Our players have pretty damn well considering most of them are as you say are championship standard.
Yes we have signed some good players recently but are they here for the ambition as they all bleat on about when joining or will they all jump ship if things go wrong, eg Townsend and Newcastle.
The heart and ethos has been totally changed by the ins and outs of players but have we done it too quickly and at the same time?
Ward and Papa will be next as they are not premiership standard then?

Yes, they have done well considering but just because a player leaves doesn't mean the heart and ethos changes. I wouldn't say that ins and outs have happened to quickly, Bolasie , Murray and Jedi have gone but did we miss Moxey, Parr or Garvan who were all part of our ethos in promotion? we panic bought in the first window and it told. Now though we seem to be a lot more picky and attempting to add real quality instead of quantity to the squad which will hopefully be a much better plan going forwards.

I would expect Ward to be next and said so in another tread, he's peaked as far as I'm concerned and will need upgrading to push the team forwards, he would be a good player to keep hold of though as he's very versatile. Souare needs to defend better but offers a lot more going forwards and puts a good cross in. I think there is more to come from him but we will see.

Two seasons ago we were down in the relegation zone and the manager as sacked. Pardew took over on 1st January and immediately the team started winning zooming up the table in the process despite not having our two supposed best players in the side as both Bolasie and Jedinak were away for the whole of January and part of February on international duty

Like the entire first half of last season when he barely featured and we were level with Spurs in December?

Yeah we were proper s***e with McArthur and Cabaye then weren't we.

I'm in no way anti-Jedinak, but he's been a bit-part player for quite a while now. Decent, but not PL standard. The one thing I do need to tell you though is that you're not Geoff Thomas; sorry if that comes as a shock, but help is out there if required.

This.
Way too much sentiment for Jedi 'the man' on here that is camouflaging his actual performances on 'the pitch', imo.

As for Flamini, i hope he does better for us than he did for Arsenal because he was 'kin shocking at times.
