Where as some of us could see him regularly fumble and cost us points. I thought he was a good buy at the time, but for us he was very poor. A couple of good saves, but that was about it. Too many mistakes and his distribution wasn't that great. Both parties needed to move on. The fact that Hart is England's no. 1, should tell us all we need to know about the state of English goalkeeping.
If you come to a fork in the road, take it. |

In the PL only 4 of the 20 clubs have English keepers that clubs consider their No 1.

He would still have got a call-up if he was still at our club and NOT first choice !
That will never be known as now at another club where he is also not the number 1.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Alex McCarthy called up to England Squad' by Penge Eagle I thought I was hallucinating when I heard this announced on TalkSh!te. Then I thought that the transfer window being closed the bullsh*t-mongers must be looking for some other almost-plausible but utterly untrue bollocks to tweet. But no, it is true. Now it may be that a player performs better in a new club because it is a better fit, different motivation, more suitable system or whatever and if that happens good for him. But if he's getting picked for England then either the quality of English keepers must be abysmal, or else the quality of the stuff Sam's been taking must be exceptional. Could end up being another name to join Hart, Seaman and Green on the list of England keepers who've committed embarassing gaffes in international finals.

..not having that. If you don't think that the Ronaldinho goal was embarrassing you're kidding yourself.

I bet even Palace didn't think of an England call up as an 'add on' for him. Would make me chuckle if we did.

If you don't think that the Ronaldinho goal was embarrassing you're kidding yourself. ..his positioning was OK for the expected cross, nobody in the ground expected him to shoot like that, bit unfair to say it was embarrassing I think.
