Some people are very hard to please.There is no point buying players unless they are an improvement on what we have already.
In our first season back in the Premier League we bought unpteen players half of whom never made the first team.
You can't provide for every position at one go it takes time.But there is no denying the quality of players we have is improving season on season.

Your right, but I feel injuries derailed our season last season. I just feel if we added say young. He could cover a numerous positions. Are we 2 injuries away from a crisis. Like if zaha and Townsend are injured leaves us short, likewise if souare and Ward also leaves us short.

Andy Johnson Magic, He wears a Magic Hat
When he Sees the match ball, he says he having that
He scores one with left foot, he scores one with his right
And When his playing Brighton, He scores all f***ING Night!

They are above our level because they have the squad depth...

and I won't take any remarks seriously from anyone who uses all caps.

This place is ridiculous: of COURSE our squad isn't perfect but this is a team that finished 15th last year! We're still novices in this division! Having a squad of world beaters is beyond our means in one window. What we have now - finally - is a squad of players who are all of PL standard. That is a huge improvement. Not only that, our first team is light years ahead of where we were in 2013. The issue last season wasn't depth so much, but quality in depth. We have a team now that can potentially have Remy and Wickham on the bench. That ain't shabby.

.. simply because we have not addressed our most pressing problem: the lack of a creative midfielder.
You can get in as many 'strikers' as you like but if they don't get the feeding pass we will be relying on the
discredited 'method' of high balls to the forwards.

We've had ample time to find what we need, so this discrepancy is a massive disappointment.

I'm worried we're way too thin. Don't replace Bolasie and send Kaikai on loan? Don't replace Jedi and send Boateng on loan? Are we happy with a total of 6 first-team defenders? I'm worried about squad depth and despite the great business that we've done, it could all come apart with a few injuries.

Nope. Our most pressing problem has been strikers. Please go back through this board and see what people have been saying for donkey's. The fact that we PERHAPS are NOW a little light in the 'creative midfielder' mould doesn't sudden retroactively change what our needs have been for ages.

Are you 'massively disappointed' by Benteke, Remy, Townsend, Tomkins and Mandanda then?

The lesson from this window seems to be don't ship too many out before you get some replacements. Happy with the players that have come in, but we have less than 25 in a squad and that includes Fryers.

4 injuries and a suspension or 2 and we are in trouble.

Let's hope they all stay fit because I think we are 3-4 short of a top 10 squad.

1 Julian Speroni
3 Adrian Mariappa
19 Daniel Gabbidon
21 Dean Moxey yellow 45'
27 Damien Delaney
6 Campaņa 58'
8 Kagisho Dikgacoi red 44'
15 Mile Jedinak
42 Jason Puncheon
16 Dwight Gayle 63'
29 Marouane Chamakh yellow 55' 75'

Three years ago this was our team that faced Man Utd on 14th September. Have we made progress since then? Bit of a no-brainer! Would have loved an attacking midfielder and a young backup winger in this window but that would have been the ideal, and you never quite get everything you want

McCarthy -----> Mandanda
Hangeland -----> Tomkins
Bolasie ------> Townsend
Adebayor -----> Remy
Gayle ------> Benteke

Chamakh ----->
Jedinak ------>

There are gaps in the squad, the most obvious one being that we didn't sign a central midfield player to replace Jedinak. Looks like we'll make it through to January praying that we don't have an injury crisis like last year.

Can't deny that there is more quality in the club though now than there was in the cup final. Arguably every one of those signings are better than the ones they've replaced (Bolasie/Townsend debatable), cracking window.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.
