I can agree with your point but don't forget Manchester City are doing the same at the Etihad! They pay £2m a tear rent and pay £1m a year from the 10 year naming deal which they received £50m for.

The Stadium was built for the Commonwealth Games and like the Olympic Stadium was converted by the taxpayer. It us about to go through another expansion at the taxpayers expense which is worse when you consider how rich they are.

Of course this is more normal abroad, lots of councils own the football grounds.

But whole everyone is upset about West Ham, Manchester City roll their eyes and keep schtum.

Well blimey I hope we get the same deal if south London does get the next Commonwealth games.

Fat chance of that. Liverpool want them in 2026 so think 25 years minimum. Anyway even then their would be no support from the losers at Crystal Palace who clearly don't want any activity in the park. Look what has happened to the old decrepid NSC.
Sad to see it and even sadder to see the NIMBYS turn their noses up to the mighty Eagles.
If we were really adventurous we would find a site on the M25 down towards Gatwick ready for the European league. That's where we should be heading if we were to leave Selhurst.
No, south London is our home and it looks like we are here to stay so let's crack on with the new old stand.
