This post has been merged from a topic called 'Yannick bolasie (replacement ideas)' by james03 I can't believe that Pardew and the board would be so STUPID. What's the point of having £25 million if you can't sign a better player than the one you sold for £25 million? Our entire season fell apart last year because of our lack of squad depth - and it was noticeable that it coincided with Bolasie's absence from the team. With all the money washing around in the Prem at the moment, we won't be able to sign a replacement for less than £25 mill. So unless the rumours are true that Yannick is unhappy with his current contract and is showing signs of disrupting the team spirit, this is a senseless move. Pardew smugly stated last week that it's marvellous to have competition for places; now he bites Koeman's hand off at the wrist to get rid of (arguably) our best player last season and bang goes the competition. People complain that Yala doesn't score enough goals but that's not his strength. We need a striker for that with Bolasie creating havoc down the wing to provide opportunites for him. No striker signed all summer, deadwood still on the books and we're selling our best players. Our management is losing the plot. Edited by eaglesally (09 Aug 2016 5.48pm)

Can't believe how well we've done if true. Buy Townsend for 13 and flog Bolasie for 25. Haha we're literally taking the piss. Amazing!

Waines world. bit risky if sako and one other get injured again back to where we were last season, which didn't work, thanks to bolasies play last season we survived without a striker top 5 just before Xmas no coincidence that when he got injured it started the run of poor results, his running creates space for other players even when he is played out of position as a ten, what do we do not replace him or replace him with who ? Got to be someone good which will cost money then was the risk worth it

Edited by eaglesally (09 Aug 2016 5.48pm) From what I gather the only reason the Benteke deal has picked up is because Yala is set to leave (although the player has before stated he is happy at Palace so would take a bumper offer to persuade him to go). There is far better players available for £25m, it is just down to how much Parish trusts our scouting network. El Ghazi and Ziyech both targeted by big Italian clubs would cost half of Yala and are far better players (and younger).

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Yannick bolasie (replacement ideas)' by james03 I'm really torn on this one. On one hand Bolasie is central to the identify Palace have given themselves over recent years the `street football` image and all that and he is exciting to watch. also, look at how we have struggled when we didn't have him in the team, threat on the winmgs from only one side instead of two. On the other hand 25 mill is a good amount of cash (although is it as much this season as it was last season?) and there are valid points about how much he successfully crosses/creates and scores. Guess we do have Townsend now as a replacement but I was excited for this season seeing 3 top wingers pushed to battle it out to get two places. I did think this was odd a few days ago: [Link] Now I think it makes sense, maybe the club saw this coming and this guy could be the replacement to add the competition for Zaha/Townsend.

If it's 25 million then I think we have to reluctantly sell....Bolasie seems to want away anyway and this is probably the right time to sell.

I'm no scout but I'd rather we got a player in that didn't have all the tricks and could just put a decent ball in the box. That'll be Mark Albrighton then.

We'd get battered every week with that formation. This is real football not FIFA.
