Personally I think we should go in for Micah Richards. Ex England international, Played for Man City when they won the league and was fantastic defender who has lost his way. They always say that form is temporary but class is permanent. He's only 27 and we could help to revive him. He can also play central defender or write back. Considering Villa of gone down I think he's worth a punt

Good call.

I don't want big names, only committed players in the Eagles mould! Big names rarely does it for us - Micah Richards, Redmond, Mason (maybe Berahino) all sounds good to me. Add to that Gylfi Sigurdsson (Icelander in Swansea).

Very much doubt there will be "Big name" signings. More likely to be players who cannot get into their respective teams on a regular basis.
Think supporters with high expectations will be somewhat underwhelmed.

That is no bad thing. I would take a lot of the players that can't get into the Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Citeh starting teams

As long as the salaries are agreed on a 'cast-off jumble sale' basis - agree.

We don't have any expertise in reviving players who have lost their way as Jordon Mutch will testify

Whilst I think Richards reputation was at a slightly (or significantly) higher level than Jordan Mutch, I honestly think Michah Richards is dog turd at centre back, defensively was absolutely shocking this season. Would be a good signing as back up for Ward but not sure that's what he would be looking for.

Don't know about big names but would take Jordan Ayew, Victor Moses, Alex Song all in a heart beat.

delph
sinclair

cant help thet think if we spend big on unproven talent we will end up with a ricky van wolfswinkle rather than a sadio mane.

I'd be happy with these two plus Nasri/Mata

I don't think we will buy in any `big name` players. Cabaye was a big name last summer and I can't see what other big name p;layers are potentially available to us. Guess it does depend on who you consider a big name but I do think we will try to pick up some B list footballers who will fit the young profile Parrish likes to see as a safe investment. A lot of the rumors we are hearing support this and to be honest I find these prospects very exciting, especially if we can clear the squad out a bit.

GK
McCarthy and/or Speroni (breaks my heart but his time has come maybe a coaching role) out for Khrul
CD
Marriappa, Paddy and Hangeland out and replaced by Caulker or Tomkins

LB
Fryers out and replaced by Santon

CM
no-one out but Bentalib in

AM
Lee Chung-Yong, Mutch and Jonny Williams out and replaced by Sigurdson, Shelvey or Mason

LW/RW
Mutch and Lee Chung-Yong out and replaced by either Redmond or Townsend

ST
Campbell, Chamakh, Adebayor and Appiah out for Babacar (Just don't think we will buy a big name striker for 20 mill+ but will trust in Wickham and bring in cover for him when he is inevitably injured).

I'm not suggesting we get everyone of those players but a few of those signings would be a much stronger squad.

Very good suggestions, though another poster said Santon is LB. Plus we would need another striker, as 3 are going out. Maybe Berahino. Rumour mill also mentioning McCormack

typo on my part I'll edit.

I'm not in favor of getting Berahino, just think he is a slightly better and significantly more expensive version of Gayle. If we can't find a way to play Gayle effectively in our 4-5-1 formation where would Berahino fit in? I honestly think our best bet is target man style strikers as backup to Wickham. If we ever do go 4-4-2 use Gayle
