I'd rather take the risk on this guy rather than signing Adebayor, Bendtner or Borini.

Other clubs seem to take risks with players that have never played in the Prem. Why not us??

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Why can't we take a punt on an Alli? Or even try our own youngsters?

A question of what we need and how much we are prepared to spend. Austin was a consistent championship scorer over a period of time, no on knew if he could do it in the premiership until he got there. I believe Rhodes is very similar, has scored goals at championship level for a long period. More importantly, his movement in the box, anticipation etc, is very similar to Austin, and as a box type striker there is every chance he could prove a good buy for a team taking a chance.

As was Murray!

Ighaloo as well scored consistently last season and has done it in the Prem. Afobe is also doing it now. I would be happy to see him come but think Gayle would have to leave for this to happen and probably to get the best from him we would have to revert to 2 up front with Wickham. However I suspect we will be going for a straight replacement for Wickham but has more cutting edge in the box and not just hold up play.

But we are Palace. Two youngsters starting - allow for one injury - we can substitute them at 60 minutes, and replace an injured player.

I think he would be a good signing. I know that he plays in a lower league, but he knows where the net is and with him and wickham up front, we could have a very formidable strike partnership on our hands. Would rather him then a 32 year old that hasn't played for ages.

We have done with quite a few players including Dwight Gayle

Or perhaps our coaches/scouts know something we don't.
There has to be a reason this year, last year, the year before that no Prem clubs have shown any interest in him whatsoever.
Plus with Dann being ex Blackburn you'd think Rhodes would have been recommended and on our radar if he was THAT good

Start playing two up front at home and give Hayle his real chance

Decent suggestion, wonder how he'd link up with wickham. Worth trying!

Hold hands on the treatment table?
