I'm off on holiday next week So I've packed a

Rain Men: The Madness Of Cricket is drawing me to read it. Anyone read it?

I've read it. Quite funny, especially if your're as crap as Cricket as I am!

I don't play cricket. I do the scoring but I've spent my life around the game and it's players. My collection of cricket books is outstanding

Lora,

you'll find it pretty funny then!! Really brought back memories of some games of Village cricket I have played in!! Laugh aloud stuff.
Have you read 'a lot of hard Yakka' by Simon Hughes. Thats a great Cricket book about county cricket, or a lot more heavyweight is Simon Rea's book about WG Grace.

Those grimson bruvvers are meant to be a right pair of planks. My mate read it some time ago and said he had to put it down as it was so bad. Keep me updated as to what it's like as I'd like to hear your spin on it...

I read Soul Crew the other year and thought it was alright. Just wound me up reading them spout about them being the hardeest and most fashionable - I mean welsh fashionable, do me a favour!

I've ead most of 'em now and have to say the orginal ones like Stemaing In & England Away which I read when I left school still take some beating...

I have read both A Lot Of Hard Yakka (which, despite focusing on M*ddl*s*x is surprisingly good) and Yakking Around The World (if you haven't, do - it's even better)

Another good one is Not Quite Cricket by Pradeep Magazine looking at the bookmakers influence on the game. It was written at the time of Cronjegate and has transcript from his phone conversations.

A good piece of investagative journalism is up their with gritty autobiographies in my mind.

I read a few of the hoolie books when I was younger. some of them are good in parts, others just re-hash old info and stories..I don't know where I stand on them.

There is a film being made featuring Elijah Wood as an American who comes to England and gets caught in the middle of the West Ham firm (Probably ICF) and it's based on one of the books you mentioned BFLB. Might be worth looking out for as is bound to be way better than I.D!

Matt, I didn't think you'd be interested in these types of books seeing as you despise this type of English person, eg English louts, from the topic about St George's Day and you being ashamed to be English because of this!

I'm read Playing for Uncle Sam which is the personal accounts of British players who plied their trade in the NASL in the 1970's - there's loads about Mike Flanagan who, disturbingly, is still something of a hero in Boston after his time with the New England Tea Men.
