In terms of current team, Fraizer Campbell.

Recent past --

Sean Scannell
Danny Butterfield
James Scowcroft

Never heard a bad word against Danny 'perfect hat trick' Butterfield.

Also, in my (admittedly cloudy) recollection, Stan Collymore didn't get too much of a look in but when he did he was dynamite! I was baffled when we got shot of him (but it all became clear in time).

Have to disagree with naming Alan Whittle.Alan was in fact a Palace Cult Hero.
When Palace were playing badly the crowd would chant "we want Whittle" Hence the great Baldy and his syndicate named one of their Greyhound "we want Whittle".
The other Greyhound "Son of Aylott" was not named after a Palace Great and true to his namesakes legacy is I believe still running!!!

Tony Burns had a hard time after taking over from the great John Jackson.

Steve Lovell Absolutely useless

It is difficult only for the others.

It's the same when you're stupid.

Paul Hinshelwood, many people forget he started out as a centre forward and my uncle hated him with a passion!!! When we were driving up from Windsor and he was selected to play because Swindlehurst was suspended my uncle nearly turned the car around.
He was right another 0 - 1 home lose to a s*** northern third division team.
Great Great days!!!

Ha ha - your Unc was spot on. Doris may have been the worst centre forward we have ever had.

But, by golly, he is the best right back we have ever had. By far.

Not sure he was the best right back we ever had by far (as i'm sure Clyne would give him a run for his money) however in essence I agree Kermit, PH was also in my opinion, the best right back to ever play for us.

Wilbs ...he couldn't score but jeeze could he hold onto the ball!

Butters ...our hat trick hero could do no wrong after that amazing evening v Premiership Wolves. Bumped into him once at Gatwick airport and he was very kind to my boy who was ten at the time.

Whittle ...the crowd used to bay for him to come on. He would give 100% and never disappoint.

Even when all he had to do was tap the ball into the net he would still hold on to it

This is true. To be fair, I think he had a phobia with netting!
