I COMPLETELY agree with this thread, no good signing this window for us, bring back signings like Moxey, Parr and Campana

Are you high or just incredibly stupid? Obviously you haven't paid any sort of attention to whom we brought in early this summer - Cabaye, McCarthy, Wickham, Sako - and are looking for an excuse to whinge.

All 4 summer signings started in the away win at Chelsea, in game No 4 of the season. All performed admirably and were a major contributory factor to the win - plus Souare and Wilf from the January window, and Chungy even had a kickabout for the last few minutes. And we managed to hold on to Bolasie and Dann despite rumoured bids over the summer. So apart from the 9 players mentioned above it looks like Super Al has no clue what he is doing in the transfer market.

Oh, and we offloaded Price, Garvan, Ramage, Thomas, Dobbie, Bannam, Guediora, and got all our up and coming talent out on solid loan deals where they are all playing well.

On that basis I can accept Zeki Fryers may not have yet reached his full potential, other than that, all good from my perspective.

Our business was good but if Wickham Bamford and Gayle are not cutting the mustard we will seriously be back in for Remy in January.

I'm not saying we did bad business at all. But I think our expectations of what we could get in fell by the way side. And if the fab signings we got in, if they get injured we have little of no cover.
As for my tampon.... It just blew up.... Very messy ! Lmao

Read the title of your thread!

We've picked up 9 points from the first four games due to the fact we got signings in early and have them settled. Getting players in after 4 games means it'll be 6 or 7 before they are properly integrated and that's a lot of points that may be lost! Business early gives you the best chance in every game.

The ups and downs of Palace have left me older than my years

im not happy to have sold Murray and possibly gayle and jedinak and we sign nobody. I thought there was a chance of getting Austin. Why sell them knowing we are not getting anyone in as cover. We are screwed if sako wilf or bolaise get injured. With very little cover. And no proven strikers. Bad business today !!!

Just how the hell did Palace do "bad business" in the transfer window?

We resigned Dann on a 5 year, a great bit of business!
We signed Cabaye
We signed Sako
We signed McCarthy
We signed Wickham
We loaned Bamford
We sold a 32 year old for £5m

We also held on to our best players.

All in all that looks like some very smart business to me.

You are right that that has been one of the important contributors to us hitting the ground running. Managerial quality and continuity and quality of the squad have also played their part of course. I've never liked the 'go late, (try to) go cheap' tactic.
