A far safer bet is James Chester. A reasonable reply from a Swansea point of view. Lets look elsewhere

He is their leader, the backbone of their team and there would be an outcry by supporters if he was sold to anyone in the immediate future.

Wouldn't have thought they would let Williams go, TBH. Similar to Dann situation before he signed long term contract: we did not want to let him go, did we ? Why would Swansea let Williams go ?

They might consider if there was a substantial offer and deem that the offer was too good to turn down. But he is 31 and maybe that "Ridiculous" offer won't be forthcoming - it won't from us !!!!

This is agent bulsh*t surely? Would Pards slap a £15m price tag on Dann only to offer £10m for someone, albeit with less time but considerably more experience? If it does have a degree of truth in it then our efforts and money would be better spent on more long term, achievable options such as Chester, Ranocchia or Van Dijk.

Fantastic player. This would be up there with the Cabaye transfer.

If we saved money by taking Bamford on loan instead of Austin and selling Hennessey for more than we buy McCarthy for, then sell a couple of fringe players for decent sums I would be delighted if we put in an OTT bid for Williams that Swansea did find impossible to turn down. Do I think that will happen? No. But if it did, I would be just as excited as I was when Cabaye signed. Ward...Dann.. Williams...Souare (backed up by Kelly, Damo and Hangeland) would be as good a back four as there was outside the very top. With McCarthy behind them we would have a settled, class defense for the next four years.
Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God. |
