I think with Van Dijk the only question now is where he goes, and what's the knock-on effect for the club that buys him (i.e. if he joins Southampton, does Fonte leave?) There are plenty of serviceable, Premier League experienced full backs who could be had. Lescott and Evans to name but two. I've seen this guy a lot. Take it from me, he aint that good. Avoid.

Interesting. All i've seen is his highlights reel, where obviously he looks like a world beater (albeit more attacking highlights than defensive) but I did wonder why no one else has shown any concrete interest other than Southampton. I saw a quote today stating he was one of Europes top defenders, which seems odd when there's been top teams looking for a CB all offseason but haven't even sniffed round him.

I second that, he is well down the pecking order for the Dutch national side with the likes of Martins Indi, Stefan de Vrij, Jeffrey Bruma, Joël Veltman, Paul Verhaegh, and Terence Kongolo, well ahead of Virgil Van Dijk, whose played 4 times for Jong Oranij and has not been able to make that step up to the next level.

We only seem to be linked to him because of some previous pretty vague rumours. People only seem to want him because we've previously been linked. It's strange.
If you come to a fork in the road, take it. |

I have watched a good number of Celtic games over past couple of years and I'd have to disagree. If Stones is worth £35M+ - he is a bargain for £11M. A Dann & Van Dijk partnership would be immense.

you have to factor in the standard of league he is playing in as well. ie scot prem = not very good so average players look tip top.

By your conclusion he's "not very good" Over 10 years ago, and he wasnt great when he first came down. Are you seriously saying that the sot prem is a good standard? Imho most of their prem teams would struggle against top half champ teams down here.
