Get used to it I fear, with Labour & Lib Dems being wiped out in Scotland, the SNP could win almost every seat they contest - 50+ makes them kingmakers and they'll hold the balance of power. And when you hold the balance of power - you hold the power.

We can only hope the Tories do better than forecast in England, otherwise it'll be a Scottish dominated Parliament.

Disagree completely.

Plausible example, the SNP says they won't vote through a budget with Tories/Labour unless they scrap Trident. Both parties refuse, so another election is called. The share of seats the two main parties get increases, including SNP losses to Labour in Scotland.

Er, when all the evidence is that politics in Scotland is going completely the other way??

Our attitude and dismissal of the Scottish vote does not aid this outcome. The attitudes would probably entrench further. Parties squabbling about ways to totally invalidate the SNP vote will come back to bite them.

Your girlfriend wouldn't thank you for a longer cock if you started f*cking her in the ear. It's not how big your gains are, it's how you use them.

I conceded it in my response. It's clear the SNP are having a whale of a time in Scotland, I just don't think that translates into influence in the UK parliament.

Say for example, Labour have more MPs but not an overall majority, the SNP will support Labour in a "Confidence and supply" arrangement on a policy by policy basis in order to win vital votes in the Commons. For this support SNP will name their terms and Labour will concede in order to stay in power.

NO chance of SNP propping up any Conservative government in this manner !

53 SNP MP's in Westminster and they won't have influence? I think you may be on your own on that one!

Who knows if they will get as many as 53 MPs but indications are that this will be in the "Ballpark".

Can't help thinking that many will vote SNP, not because they agree with their overall policies and ethos but because they believe a strong SNP showing will be good for Scotland as they will be able to manipulate a Labour minority Government ! Power-broking and all that !

Wonder how many of the SNP voters will have voted for independence in the referendum ?

I can't see a single logical reason why a Scottish party shouldn't have influence in Westminster. It's a UK government, not an English one. The Prime Minister said we are better together so he'll have his wish won't he.

To say all that and then paint Scottish votes as not worth the same as English votes is f***ing stupid and will probably do for him.

The polls are only going in one direction, so unless you completely ignore all the forecasts, the SNP will win most of the Scottish seats available, which is 59.

I said 53 as a middling estimate - an SNP/Labour coalition is looking increasingly possible, even if Labour are trying to avoid having that discussion because when the penny drops the English electorate may have to vote tactically for the Tories in order to keep the SNP out of Government.

I'm not ignoring all the forecasts and it would be a major turnaround if SNP never won the vast majority of seats.

Overall, polls can be highly volatile and in the full glare of an election campaign perhaps the final outcome won't reflect what we are seeing today.
