Are you good enough to get to Heaven?: [Link] Is hell real?: [Link] The truth: [Link] It's ok to believe what you want as long as you don't try to impose your views on others, or attempt to "convert" innocent bystanders, in my view. God-botherers are neither big nor clever. But anyone who cannot see through that Bill Weise bloke has to have a screw loose or be extremely gullible. An odious example of US evangelist nonsense. And so far from the truth as to be laughable, if he wasn't conning people out of their hard-earned.

I jumped out of my van, stopped 3 lanes of traffic in Streatham and walked an old lady across to the other side the other day.
I refuse to believe there are that many people out there that can't spell. Too f**king lazy, that's what I think. |

I went to Birmingham once - that seemed quite real. The thing is with all this religious stuff is if you wiped out everyone on earth and every book etc. except for 2 kids and they eventually started life all over again then their would be no made up religious books - none of this John 3:16 cringeworthy nonsense. Some bint keeps offering me the Watchtower on my way to work - I could go round leafleting people saying I believe in the Fishmonster and Acorn religion. No one KNOWS - it's just a belief fed down through generations of previously god-fearing folk who are becoming less and less in number and don't really fear anyone anymore. I get really pissed off when people say they KNOW God is real and Jesus died for me - you really don't - stop kidding yourselves. I just wish someone who's mildly religious, say The Pope, just came out and said "We don't know ok. Life seems to have no real meaning so we cling to religion to try and make some sense of it, add some boundaries but deep down... yeah you're right it's a crutch, a comfort. The Old Testament is a load of old fairy stories passed down before we discovered more about the solar system and every other religious book has been written by men and handed down with absolutely no facts to back them up. We have no idea why the cavemen were so primitive and God left it millions of years before allowing them to evolve even though they were created in his image. We're not sure if that was Homo Sapien God or the Neanderthal one but we have people researching this." It's just silly - some people get a buzz - the same as going to football. Some will get really fanatical and suggest to others they attend every week and become a better supporter - maybe give some money to this pastime. But don't keep suggesting it's anything more than something you like because it gives you a sense of purpose and belonging. I'd have a lot more respect for Mrs Watchtower seller if she says "oooh I'm old and since I lost poor Charlie I've made some friends and have somewhere to go on a Sunday - but buggered if I know if any of it's true". (Blimey and I though Jamie721 banged on a bit)

Seriously, if that's your gods best effort, then you will need saving.

Ray Comfort is a Creationist lunatic, He shouldnt be banned from speaking but he should be ridiculed like this The Crocoduck explained to Ray Comfort.. Edited by Ouzo Dan (20 Feb 2015 8.19am) The 2nd link really does expose Mr Comfort as someone unwilling to change his mind when presented with new facts. Unfortunately that is how a lot- not all- religious people come across. If you have any other links Parchmore I'm willing to give them a go but they need to be a lot better than evangelists with blind faith.

And that's the key difference, and what makes certain arguments central, they fit the evidence we have, better than the previous explaination. Clinging to an anti-evolution ideology is like clinging to the idea of the sun orbiting the earth, its in denial of all evidence to the contry, that disproved the realiability of the original prevailing belief. The retention of this belief is based primarily in the necessity to accept Genesis as being literally true and on discursive trickery - where as Evolutionary theory is based on actual evidence (to reject evolution would also mean rejecting genetics - something we know is a fact). But people like this aren't interested in anything other than their own power and status, over others.
