Nothing like a short memory. Without our sweaties you can kiss goodbye to the greatest player in our history (Jim Cannon), a season in the top flight (David Hopkin), survival (Dougie), the resilience of John McCormick's defending and Gerry Queen's goals, which kept us up for four years and that's without touching on John Hughes, Iain Phillip and hundreds of others in between all the way up to Barry Bannan who've made huge contributions to Palace. Don't want Moyes, but our debt to Scotland is considerable.

We wouldn't even be in the top flight if it wasn't for dougie - alot of people easily forget that

When you extricate yourself from his bottom, answer me why you believe the above to be true?

Well, you highlighted my observation "survival. Dougie". If you really need to know why that is true, the word you're looking for is "Stockport." Have you only recently started following Palace?

Edited by sydtheeagle (02 May 2014 7.58pm)

No? Because survival and promotion arent linked in anyway I was just reiterating the point that we should appreciate what he's done for the club. Even if I supported palace for 5 mins which for all I give a s*** you are welcome to think, it would be pretty difficult to get confused between an incident where Dougie scored to keep us up and almost half a season of him managing us and going on a big unbeaten streak taking us to a v strong position in the championship with a team he pretty much built himself. He should be remembered for all sorts of things, including the end betrayal.

I will always love Ollie for what he did in the play offs and the commitment he gave to us but his record was poor under us, and Dougie is the reason we went up. Fact.

I suppose any number of managers could end up at Palace. Moyes is a very constant type of bloke, and with Palace's roller-coaster record would it suit him? Or maybe it would be good for Palace.

Wtf do you mean? Did you go away last season or are you just f***ing retarded? The reason we got into the play offs wasn't because Holloway got us there it was because when he took over DOUGIE HAD US TOP OF THE LEAGUE ON AN UNBEATEN RUN OF 14 OF WHICH WE WON 11, how anyone thinks that he's not the reason we are in the Prem is beyond f***ing belief. I'm not sucking anyone's arse and he is of courts a traitor but just because someone betrays a team DOES NOT take away the fact that we are in the PL due to what he did before and the success he evidently he had. Some so called football fans on this site actually thinking we would've went up with Ollie from the start last season!!! Haha!! Do me a favour!! U remember his record for us in the league?? some absolute mongrels seem to forget! We were one of the favourites to go down last season

Edited by Mstrobez (02 May 2014 7.22pm)

As has been mentioned, your assertions are incorrect, DF had a good 8 game run against weaker opposition, we weren't top of the league and we had to endure depressing football the previous season. What you seem to be implying through the expletives and personal insults, is that the 8 game run is what got us promoted, sorry but 24 points would have got us relegated, IH continued to keep us in touch, yep there were some instances where we weren't as good as we were previously but we had a very good first eleven but after that, not a lot and when injuries etc came into play we were found wanting but IH got us into the prem, that my raging little friend is proper FACT.

Amusingly you're using the following as evidence that IH wouldn't have got us up "We were one of the favourites to go down last season". DF was in charge when the odds for relegation were published, so I'm not really sure how that helps your argument?

Anyway, I'd love to chit chat with you but I've got better things to do

Freedman had a much better record last season than Holloway. We wouldn't have gone up under Holloway. Fact. 100%. Done

Freedman was only in charge for 11 games and his record was W6 D2 L3 so 20 pts out of a possible 33.

Under Holloway, we only won 1 of our last 10 games (The last of those games) but of course we came good in the play-offs.So Holloway took over a side that was going well !

If we were THAT GOOD and guaranteed to go up after 11 games, don't you think Freedman would've stayed to stroll through the season for this nailed on promotion, contract extension and bumper wage rise and bonus?

FFS some people really haven't a clue. We have never been auto promotion material unless we've been in the Premiership the season before. Alan Smith in 93/94 and Dowie with AJ. Apart from that we're outside bets for play offs.

We had 10 players who needed to play each week to be really competitive with the choice of Garvan or Moritz. We lost both of those and didn't even have Williams at one stage. Other clubs have 20 players good enough to do the business and play in different ways. We were fairly one dimensional. Feed the wingers and dribble. Teams work it out. Some on here cannot.

And your Dad, I assume you're his son, hasn't done very well with the better squad, finance and infrastructure at Bolton has he?

As Pulis has said there are no guarantees in football ! I am not acting as any defence lawyer for Freedman, all I said was that we were going well when he left for Bolton.I wasn't over-playing the fact. I will say is that it gave us a good platform to develop on.

Why all this talk about TP leaving Palace. Has he come out and said something definite or is it all just rumours? Some of you are talking as if it's a done deal.

As for the DF vs IH exchanges, the only 100% fact that I know of is Ian Holloway was manager when we won the playoffs and went up after DF deserted us for a more lucrative deal. All the rest is just subjective analysing of statistics which we all know can be manipulated to support any argument.
