All this "spiritual home" stuff about CP park evades the issue of how fans lving South of the park will get there. Getting to Gipsy Hill or Crystal Palace station is a pain in the butt. Selhurst may have its faults but having three stations nearby is a big plus. This is especially important given that so many fans are ex-Croydon or South Norwood.
Crystal Palace park is our spiritual home whether you like that or not. It is where we started and it's the natural place that layman fans first looking for Palace expect it to be. I always thought that CP park had excellent transport links. Edited by Stirlingsays (20 Apr 2014 9.59pm) Our spiritual home? Please. We've never played there since any one of us has been supporting Palace. Our home is Selhurst Park, and it's where I hope we remain.
Oh dear, what a shame.....The tears are falling down my face.....Yeah I mean just how could anyone from South London/Croydon still identify themselves as Palace if the club moved back to Crystal Palace park....I mean it's hardly bleeding far. Now all I know of Palace is Selhurst and have affection for it but you know....I also went to school and understand something about history too....And economics. By the way guys....The clues in the name, Crystal Palace Park....It's you who need to identify with the real club not imagine it is something it isn't. I come in to see my beloved Palace from Wisbech and many others make bigger trips.....I think it's a joke when people claim that moving a club changes things for them...All clubs have to evolve to survive.....If us moving a bit did affect your support then you weren't really that interested in the club to begin with. Parish and co know that for Palace to progress that we need to relocate.....Redeveloping Selhurst is the secondary option not the first.....We may be forced into it but it is by no means the preferred option. Edited by Stirlingsays (21 Apr 2014 10.54am)
Majority of people living around selhurst don't even support Palace. The whole area is a s*** hole. I love our ground but it needs plonking somewhere else.

The whole area is an absolute crap heap, but it's all we know and we still love our crap heap. The walk from Selhurst station to the ground is one that stinks of piss and is pure filth, anywhere else in the world and I'd never in a million years step foot near it. But I love it. From my very first game as a nipper I was like urgh! But I still get the same buzz every time I go, and anywhere else just wouldn't be the same, would never feel like 'home'. I don't want a state if the art new plastic stadium, I like the leaky rickety stands we have. Tart it up as much as we can to keep it ticking over, new roof/seats/paint job etc, that's all we need.

It's not half the s***hole of that of the one which surrounds WestHam..and by all accounts Spurs. Besides, stick something brand new and inspirational in a somewhat deprived area and it attract more interest than the same facility in a nicer area...as long as the club make access to its services affordable.
1/6/2010.a new era.we made it everyone!!!lets get the ball rolling for another 105 years of proud history.thank you cpfc2010. palace forever.eeaaaaaaaaaaaaaggglless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

This post has been merged from a topic called 'New Stadium/Making Selhurst Park Bigger' by Penge Eagle I've not heard anything about rebuilding Selhurst or building a new stadium for ages and surely this is a good time to bring it up? CPFC2010 showed us designs for a new stadium in Crystal Palace park but we haven't heard much since. We have stayed up in the Premiership for the first time so surely this would be a good time to have a stadium with a bigger capacity. It has been very hard to get tickets for home games this season for those without season tickets after all so we are bound to fill a bigger stadium easy with our brilliant support...

This post has been merged from a topic called 'New Stadium/Making Selhurst Park Bigger' by Penge Eagle Pretty sure i heard parish on holmesdale radio not too long ago saying he didn't want to be in a position where he starts promising things only for people to be left disappointed. In all honesty i would rather we stay at the fortress at Selhurst Park, and extend the capacity of the stadium if it is possible.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'New Stadium/Making Selhurst Park Bigger' by Penge Eagle Jeez when Parish and Browett read cr@p like that they must weep. They have made it perfectly clear that we are not going to CPP (as the residents association would tie us up in legal knots for years), neither are we going to move from Selhurst but we are going to develop the ground one stand at a time, starting with the AW. That's it; it's been discussed to death and the owners have set out what they intend to do. Now give it a rest FFS.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'New Stadium/Making Selhurst Park Bigger' by Penge Eagle I think the Crystal Palace Park stuff died when West Ham got given the Olympic Stadium in east London. What a waste. If for no other reason than the world figuring out - about 20 years ago - that football pitches with running tracks around them are terrible for fans / atmosphere. It would be fantastic if they could connect the two side stands to the Holmesdale end to create a contiguous structure. Might help sell it to the locals too, as it would enclose more of the noise. Edited by Ray in Houston (21 Apr 2014 8.41pm)
We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football. |

Parish has been crystal clear on this; we are staying at Selhurst and redeveloping (AW and Whitehorse will be the first to be done). Browett has said on the BBS however that no announcement is due.
