Have to say if it was Jerome or Murray at the moment I would prefer Jerome. Looks far more threatening.

You never know he May start scoring. I would keep him as he makes goals for others and messes up the heads of opposition defenders , I remember a guy called Beardsley getting dropped by England because he didn't score abd guess what England scored a lot fewer without him. It's only a couple of weeks until May so I may put a few quid on him to score a few.
Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course). |

another point to look at is he isnt our player and will cost to sign. if we sign him, he will probably cost 2m in transfer fees and 25k a week (probably more) in wages a week. this season we spent in excess of 20m on the squad...assuming pulis gets even half that money again this season then surely we can get better than him, especially when we probably only need to sign a few players to enhance an already half decent PL squad. we all love a player that gives 100% every game, but if we really are looking to kick on in our 2nd PL season and not struggle again then we have to raise our expectations of the players we are looking to sign.

I'm a massive Jerome fan. He works tirelessly for the team and physically matches some of the leagues strongest defenders like Cahill and terry. Then again, it's difficult. If we could get a striker who is going to score you more goals over a season then you have to opt for that. I think Murray sadly might be the one to go now. Gayle has got potential, chamakh and Jerome have had good seasons and proved they can get by in the premier league. It's a tough call though. Next season we may not be so lucky and if we want to finish in a safer position we need to be scoring far more goals then we currently are. I'd say we could do one really good striker to play along side chamakh, and then you have Jerome and Murray as back up. Maybe loan gayle out...?

No way... He is terrible up front. Play him midfield instead maybe, with long balls up front to Murray and Gayle. I was looking forward to him coming off yesterday.

100% keep him. he's the best option for Pulis's system. An earlier post said the defense is starting with him - fully agree. I love his work rate and his pressing play. He had a poor game today, but overall he has been central to our rise post-IH.

Not as a starting player, squad possibly. I acknowledge the part that he has played with his workrate etc., but if we are to progress then we need to improve in certain positions, CJ's being one of them.

No way. Send him back. Find someone who can put it in the net. Missed another sitter today - he's stealing a living as a striker. Defender maybe, but wasted up front. Tend to agree. Surprised that he hasn't been done under the Trade Descriptions Act. I would be surprised if he stays with us for next season. Pretty clear we will need somebody up front who can regularly find the net, alongside the Punch, as nobody this season will probably be in double figures. So something will have to change.

Murray will be gone in the summer, or just a squad player. He won't get the service he had last season, and thus won't score goals like he did either. We have already tried Chamakh and Gayle up front and didn't really work out. Next season as long as we re-sign Chamakh, we should build a squad around him. Such a class player.

Murray is hands down a better player when up to speed. He has a goal threat and can do most of the other stuff that CJ does. CJ is a necessary evil at the moment as Murray is still feeling some after-effects of his massive injury, but with a full pre-season he offers everything CJ does plus goals. The people saying that Murray hasn't cut it in the Prem are short-sighted and are probably the same people who slated him two seasons ago (his debut season) when he also wasn't super amongst the goals. With time and a slightly more positive outlook the goals will come. Back to CJ, the miss yesterday was beyond woeful and isn't an isolated incident and is why I think we can do better. Particularly since he isn't even our player anyway so we'd need to shell out regardless. If we're shelling out on a forward then let's at least get one who can score goals. I love how people say he 'worries opposition defenders'. Even if that were true, why are opposition defenders worried about him?? Even if he nicks the ball off them, what is he going to do? Blaze it over or mis-hit a pass to a team-mate. Big whoop. Vastly, vastly overrated by some on here. Yes, he has done a job for us but frankly, we should be looking for something better if we have any aspirations of doing better next season.
