Its the Mirror...no more needs to be said, however Pulis appointment and what he has managed to do in a short space of time has given us a great chance of actually pulling off an unlikely survival and he deserves backing financially to achieve it.

if he quits then we dont have to pay up his contract...thats fine by me. i know he is doing a good job,but i still prefer the owners choice of player signings over his. at the end of the day...this is the 1st time in my lifetime (bar el tel) that weve actually had a big name manager at the club, its good, but you are bound to have more situations like this as a by product of employing such manager. if he wants to bitch & moan then let him...in a weeks time he cant do anything about it and has to get on with his job for the rest of the season. Crazy. Over TP, an experienced PL Manager. I fear this rings true though, SP has far too much input into the players TP wants. Have a budget for transfer fees and wages and let him get in with it. If TP does not get players in he feels are the ones he wants and not the closing down sales SP visited last time then TP will be gone anyway IMO
and signing (for example) crouch & etherington for big money & massive wages isnt a wise move surely? youve gotta imagine crouch is on (easily) in excess of 50k per week, and etherington maybe 40k a week. so you pay maybe 8m for the pair...then somewhere near 100k a week in wages on the 2 players and then in 18months time youve got nothing to sell to make any money back! it makes no sense! none whatsoever...i cant see how buying peter crouch gives us a better chance of survival.

I would be amazed if that was the case, but then again i was amazed at what happened to IH. What manager doesn't get frustrated from time to time with restrictions on how much they have to spend on players, unless you are Man City of course. I hate this transfer window as it all smacks of desperation and the teams that are struggling at the foot of the table panic buy to try and get themselves out of the predicament. Do we want to do a fat Sam at West Ham and sign players that don't want to be here let alone roll their sleeves up and fight for the team and club? Lets hope West Ham go down and we stay up based on the fact that we acted within the clubs financial constraints, and just to show what a good appointment TP was. At the time i had my reservations about TP, but i have got to admit i was wrong and he is the right man for the job, so lets hope he still keeps his record intact of not getting a team relegated.

I'd rather stick with what we got that take on Crouch at his age. Glen Murray due back soon and he would be in my squad. I think money is available but SP and the board have to be able to reserve the right to stop a deal if they feel its right to do so. TP might be frustrated but he's an employee and on a huge salary and needs to get on with the job in hand. If he goes at the end of the season so be it but as we know its in his interests to stay and keep us in the PL as he will will make huge bonuses. Our club should always be bigger than one individual.

You don't sense the warmth between Pulis and Parish as there was with Ollie. It beginning to look as though the transfer nonsense in the last window was not the whole fault of IH.

the manager cannot dictate how much the club spend and how much they pay on wages! like others have said, he is an employee, and a very well paid one at that. managers only give the list of players they want to the relevant people...they dont negotiate fees/wages with other clubs!

Tony Pulis has an excellent reputation as a manager and he won't want to lose that because of a chairman who promises him the earth to get him to join then breaks his promises once the ink is dry on the contract.

I don't doubt that for one minute. You may recall that Holloway was asked about a player in one of the pre season games and he said that he didn't know who he was as the chairman had brought him down for a trial

i wouldav imagined (neither of us know) that there was a ballpark figure on money available for transfers, not an agreement to buy certain players.
