Rendition, drone strikes, massacres, torture, executions, etc. In the same way Israel doesn't give a fvck and gets away with doing illegal things so does the US. Too powerful you see. Who can take them on? Not Russia nor China - they are busy not following the rules of international law too. Yhe Hague? I wish they would - I'd fvcking love to see Kissinger on trial before he kicks the bucket. Too powerful alas still. So America runs the Hague does it? I will agree with you that what is and isn't illegal largely depends upon 'self interest' and that in reality decides 'what is legal' by the main powers. But 'what is fair', wasn't what was being stated. I was addressing this illegal point. If international law worked differently then yes.....Maybe it would be. Though to be honest, opinions are subjective....There has to be some way of managing the system. There is no way of knowing that an international system that punished Israel and the US would indeed be any fairer or result in less injustice than this version does now. It's just versions of justice. I'm no particular fan of the way Israel or the US act in some respects to international law.....The government in Israel clearly has an malign agenda to constructive peace....Though I highly value the democracy in Israel. Unlike so many on here, I'm no armchair enemy of the states themselves.

I have addressed your arguments and show their flaws.
My opinion on the matter is that the charges are a foil. A fact of the matter is that Assange will not go to Sweden while onward extradition is a possibility. He should be questioned on the case, it's a serious allegation, but he should not face onward extradition. A right that Sweden has the power to exert, but have remained wooly on.

Although over 50 years ago I would urge you to read up about US actions in the Korean War Stirling if you haven't already just so to know exactly what the US are capable of. It is truly shocking.
An estimated one million civilians were murdered by the US via official policy.

Again, the 'angry' thing. Like most of your perceptions it is incorrect, sugarcheeks. You support a 'pick and choose' approach to the law....Indeed as does Assange. Fair enough, but with that comes consequences. If you pull the tail of the tiger, eventually it will turn to bite back....If you choose to pull it don't go crying and hiding away from the obvious reaction. Ecuador will eventually grow tried of him and arrange some face-aaving situation where he ends up with the British.

My point being that it is already in their military and political culture. To break the law, I mean. An estimated one million civilians were murdered by the US via official policy.
Which one is true? The answer is both are and neither is. To badly mangle what Einstein said with respect to relativity, 'what is reality' changes in respect to the observer. Kermie, I've read quite of lot in my time. I'm well aware of the Korean war and the injustices from both sides......Though one side was fighting for a future that would end in democracy and one wasn't. I'm well aware of abuses that take place in every single war engaged in by either side. There are no clean hands in war, that goes against the very nature of it.......However those who sit on their hands have indirectly been responsible for allowing much greater carnage and death numbers to occur that would have been the case. The rise of Hitler and Stalin for example....Both stoppable. Both ended up with regimes that collectively killed .....Estimates vary but an argument can be made for about twenty million.....But that can be higher depending upon how we view Stalin's reign. Yet, they can sit back and say, 'not me gov'.

You support a 'pick and choose' approach to the law
I await your passive aggressive, generic, non-committal response with wonder.

Seems to me to be very simple. First of all, most of the costs stated would have been spent as normal wages by the Met, although the allocated officers might have been spending their time catching London criminals, something that the taxpayer may expect them to be doing. The simple fact would be to pull the officers away, let the Ecudorians deal with the situation on their own terms, and our government get on with prioritising their own citizens, which is what we pay them salary and exhibortant expenses for !!

I'm enjoying all these imaginative descriptions, sugarcheeks. You should get a job writing comedy for the BBC....Mind you, that's faint praise indeed.

Why are the police outside the embassy anyway?? No one is going to go in and kidnap him and he isn't going to do a runner. A Palace ball boy could do the job for a hundredth of the wage.
