Surprised no-one's mentioned the 5-0 defeat away at Liverpool in the League Cup semi 2nd leg in 2001, after we'd beat them 2-1 in the home leg with a fantastic goal by Andrejs Rubins. Clinton Morrison had been giving it large in the papers saying he was better than Michael Owen (or that's how it was reported). The scousers gave him absolute dog's abuse the whole game and he had a ridiculously embarrassing air shot with practically his only kick of the game right in front of the Kop. I can still hear their jeers now. It was a long trip home that night.

Can't remember the year, about 71-72. We had beaten Stoke midweek to stay up in the old first division & the following saturday we were at home to relegated Huddersfield. I would have gone on my own anyway but, persueded my mum to come with me as 'we will easily win 6-0!.' Even after a dreary 0-0 first half, I was still confident my predictiuon would come true but, alas, the second half was even worse than the first & 0-0 was the final score. It was a long trudge back to Hayes after the game

Think it was about 89/90, 5-0 away to forest. The away end was like the corner of the Holmesdale we used to give away fans, with no roof. It rained non stop! Coventry home and away that same season, think they was both 1-0 loses and rained both matches too. Very dull games.

2 games from 03-04 0-5 away to Wigan, after which Steve Kember was sacked. Then 1-3 at home to Crewe which effectively stopped Kit Symons getting the job full time.

Huddersfield last game of the season 1971-72. Nothing at stake, cold, wet, no goals and no football to speak of. Truly dire. Two games toward the end of 1975-1976 season. Just when we should have been clinching promotion our form disintegrated. We had consecutive mid-week home games against Aldershot and Chesterfield, both ending 0-0, both absolutely atrocious. I seem to remember in one of these games injuries necessitated a half-time re-shuffle which resulted in us being treated to Palace coming out with a twin strike force of Doris Hinshlewood and Jim Cannon - why we couldn't score I'll never know! As suggested by someone earlier, it's not always those games when you get thrashed that are the most painful. It is those dire matches when you come up against some dross side and sink to their level and lose by the odd goal - or in the case of the Aldershot/Chesterfiled games, actually draw the game.

Palace 0 wimbledon 5 shocking, but i cheered myself up by joining in the riot outside afterward, windows smashed, old bill on horseback, quite funny really. This one and it pi**ed down too so I was wet, miserable and pi**ed off!! I remember one game last season at home we were equally dire - Doncaster - however we managed to get a point at 1-1!

93 or 94 ... lost 3-1 at home to Coventry ... Cobi Johnson (American player) scored for them ... amittedly it was pissing down with rain. I left early as the players couldn't be bothered ... Nigel Martyn looked up and gave me a sad look as I walked along the front of the main stand.
They say hard work never hurt anyone ... but why take a chance? |

Have a look at the post labelled When Palace was Dis- graced on Nostalgia. While we have certainly had bad days since then but the happenings reported in the aforementioned post must rank as bottom of the barrel in Palace history. We could not even beat non-league teams home or away and when we did play a league game we let 10 in!.
