Just wanted to thank my fellow HoLers for reading and responding to Isobel's "article". To get over 2500 views is incredible although a fair few have been from Isobel re-reading the comments! You have all helped to make a little Palace girl very happy. Thanks again Isobel's proud Dad..

You're welcome Isobel and her Dad! You can see from the responses on this thread how she has really struck a chord with so many HOLers. At a time when it's not the easiest to be a Palace supporter and many are cynical, her innocence and clarity of thought has been so touching and gratifying. Isobel, you have restored my faith in being a Palace fan and brought a smile to my face in what are tough times. Thank you

Thought I would share with you my 11 year old daughter's English essay.. What makes a true palace supporter??? Well recently Palace has been going on a let’s just say a very bad streak... Of course we get cross frustrated angry with ourselves and even shouting at the television. But we don’t lose heart we keep being positive and if the players play badly we can tell them off but if they try their best and lose than that’s not really important. Of course it’s about winning, you play to win but if they try their absolute hardest than that’s all we ask from them. It’s no fun at all saying you support Man United because when you arrive at the match you just know they will probably win. But a true Palace supporter goes to as many matches as they can and proudly wear the red and blue, cheer clap and stay positive. When we lose you don’t just say I am now switching to man u so that we don’t have to go through with all the stress but anyone can say that cant they.. They are Glory Hunters, they brag to us about winning - well we say we have tried our best we can’t say anything else about it but when a Saturday comes around again and we win we are more excited than the Chelsea/Man u glory hunter fans are. We praise Palace when they do well and hopefully that will influence their next match, they will feel the support and feel more brightened. What I am trying to say is anyone can support Chelsea/Man U but it takes a whole lot more to support Palace. We have our ups and downs but that’s what supporting Palace is all about - a team we love and encourage. We love you Eagles....... Isobel

An extremely well written piece Isobel, it is just a shame that some adults who support Crystal Palace don't have your attitude. Very mature head on young shoulders. Isobels essay should be a sticky on this Topic so that some of the people who really should know better and act like spoilt 8 year olds when we lose have something to look up and aspire too in terms of how to act and react to adversity....

Lose. Again!!
WORRIED that your teeth will be stained after a heavy night drinking red wine? Fear not; drink a bottle of white wine before going to bed, to remove the stains. |

well done Isobel. my son is 5 and he renamed us "Sun Palace" as he thinks we shine even when things seem grey. When you ask him who he supports he says "Sun Palace", the adults ask "who are they" he replies mostly with " don't you know the best team at Selhurst". absolutely magic. Keep up the good faith Isobel !

Sat my English Language GCSE this summer and one of the questions was: So, naturally, fresh in the memory, of course i wrote about Hillsborough. I somewhat regret that now as I got a B but i suppose it was only natural for any Palace Fan. Hey, it was either that or Stockport!
