He makes for a great stooge that tosspots on the left and liberal centre can use to distract from the ever growing resistance to mass immigration and wokery.

The Tories are going for the middle ground, but I suspect that traditional voters are becoming ever more polarised by the clear schisms that mass immigration has caused in this country.

At this rate, the Tories will lose considerably more votes to Reform than I imagined. It remains to be seen how many red wall voters will go back to Labour.

I would ask them why they would do so. Labour offer them nothing except even more of what they don't want.

I think so.

I'm quite happy about it but from a Tory perspective it seems incredibly dim to do what you enemies want...Now Sunak has no one representing the right of his party in the cabinet, quite incredible.

Sunak obviously wants to lose really badly.....perhaps he thinks if he's going out he wants to go with his political demographic around him.

The 16th Housing Secretary in 13 years.

Peter Wright - Head of England's environmental health chiefs -
'Wholesale reform of how the private rented sector is regulated to address “serious systemic failings”' etc we have heard it all before.

Colleagues had seen properties in such disrepair – racked with mould, damp and rats – that they “keep officers awake at night”, he said. “There are some living conditions today that are as poor as we would have found in the 1930s, 40s and 50s. It’s shameful to feel that there are still people living in terrible conditions in 2023 in England.”

And after all this it will not be addressed in the forthcoming bill if and when we actually see it.

And this is widespread not just in the rented sector but in the public sector where the damage caused by the austerity years has taken hold.

Cameron back after doing a runner after the referendum.

Foreign Secretary.

So much for Sunak being the PM of change - got a week out of that one.

Exactly, these are not conservatives.

David Cameron is the very guy who rigged the MP selection process (same as Starmer is doing) to ensure that no white right wing conservative got a job....It's why you see the only real Tories are ethnic....because he needed to tick the diversity box in selection.

The Tory MP base and leadership are social liberals and proud of the fact.

I don't want them in power, they don't deserve to call themselves conservative and the Tory base has put up with this for decades....far far too long. They are lied to again and again.

Large numbers of them put up with it because they essentially are 'house price' conservatives but what they need to gather is that firstly they are losing power anyway with Sunak.....so why have social liberals leading you?

Also, because their beloved Tories lied to them and continually allowed around 150,000 foreigners a year to flood into the country for well over a decade all the new housing developments are going to end up in their areas.

Their inaction and sitting on their hands will be coming back to bite them.

Being the nice guy gets you nothing but taken advantage of.

Speculation is that they are deserting the red wall seats to concentrate on the southern seats thus the appointment of Cameron to shore up support in the home counties and reduce the risk of a Labour landslide. Also interesting to see that the real darling of the right will be unavailable to comment for the next 4 weeks as he is otherwised engaged in Australia . Surely thats a coincidence

Possble.

Also with Cameron in that post, then we are definitely not leaving the ECHR and by default, going to do NOTHING about stopping the invasion on the South Coast.

This is the key to this. By putting Cameron into this post it sends a signal to the EU that everything is now about paving the way for us to go back in. There is simply nobody in situ now to actually lead any kind of Tory rebellion which might stand a chance of turning the tide.

Cameron coming back now guarantees that Starmer take overs. And its even possible, he might even keep Cameron on when he wins. Now I accept that this might sound beyond plausible but then again, I would have staked my mortgage this time yesterday on Cameron not being back as Foreign Secretary by this time today.

We are truly through the looking glass in Britis politics now.

All exceedingly depressing.I am absolutely appalled by today's announcements and my view is shared by several grassroots members who will in all likelihood defect to 'Reform UK'.

I have been having conniptions about the latest developments and tonight will be meeting fellow Conservatives who are on my wing of the party.
There has been much wailing and lamentation in the Willo abode and my dear wife has commented that I have been behaving like an over-galvanised gerbil.

Sunak was rejected by the party members in the Leadership Election and polls have suggested the electorate reject him as well.

Conservatives are behind in the polls by a country mile and have suffered crushing by-election defeats.Alas Sunak is damaging the party and confidence in him is waning by the hour.

Jolly well done to Andrea Jenkyns MP who submitted a letter of 'No Confidence" in Sunak to the Chairman of the 1922 Committee and perhaps more will follow.

The decisions made by Sunak clearly demonstrate that he has no intention of tackling immigration, illegal or otherwise. Those in the north who voted Tory won’t be doing it again now.

They want to land this problem in Labour laps and jeer from the sidelines.

The biggest losers will be us.

Feeling mislead and a little robbed?

I am totally disgusted and incandescent with rage over the removal of Suella Braverman and the appointment of the EU loving 'Remainer' David Cameron.

Sunak has picked a fight with the 'Right' of the Conservative Party and it will be no surprise if the Conservatives 'Haemorrhage' votes to 'Reform UK'. I know a number of grassroots members who are appalled by the latest announcements and will refuse to offer it any more support.

Alas Sunak has 'Lost the plot'.

Never had you down as someone who would be a fan of Cruella Willo. Disappointed to say the least.

A deluded lefty talks about being 'mislead'.

Very amusing.

The Tories lost the election when COVID happened and they sacked Johnson. They just took out the only Tory who speaks the language that most people relate to.
This attempt at a move further to the middle will make the defeat even bigger and split the Tories apart I suspect.

Bring it on I say.
