No one's going to crawl over her to get to you Corny. She's Jewish by the way like Benz, just to remind everybody that they aren't all white hating third worldists. Edited by Stirlingsays (28 Dec 2023 12.00am)

Reading Mr Smith’s request to the Court it doesn’t seem to me to impact anything that would be relevant to the actual charges. All he is seeking is for the Court to strike out anything they regard as irrelevant. Such as what other people, who are not on trial, either did or did not do. That would not stop the defence from asserting what they did or did not do was responsible for his motivations. Getting in another lather over nothing. Thank goodness it will be the Judge who decides and not someone like Benz. Although doubtless if she agrees it will be appealed all the way up to the SC.

Lovely turn of phrase “white hating third worldlsts”. I sure it must mean something to someone somewhere. Seems full of hatred itself to me. I try not to hate anyone. Even those whose politics I despise.

Mike Benz wasa lawyer. He was always also a political activist, for a while hiding behind a pseudonym. Now he is both a political activist and a conspiracy theorist who sows discord. He no more knows what he is talking about than any other conspiracy theorist. He just holds opinions. Including some very unpleasant ones. Our friend was a teacher. What he is now is unclear but he also spreads conspiracy theories and discord and holds unpleasant opinions. I am retired.

The way the Republican Party has allowed itself to be taken over by the Trump supporting populists means it’s now more likely that Mitt Romney will run as a Democrat than a Republican. That’s, of course, extremely unlikely but don’t rule out Liz Cheney running. She could be the place where the serious anti-Trump Republicans place their votes. Those who could not directly vote for the Democrats but see the danger of Trump.

Every stunt like this that they try to pull merely ups the support for Trump. Paints him as the victim of the system which he patently is. Trump will effectively portray himself as a victim of the Deep State. Garnering him support from the various sections of US society that the Democrats seem to believe are their client groups. And Trump will benefit from this without having to spend a penny. They are gifting him the kind of PR that money simply could not buy. Trump will win the US presidency based on the surge of votes from the African-American community. A nailed on at this stage.

I can't believe they are so stupid, every time they pull a stunt like this it just bumps his position. A democratic process is being interfered with by one person who is an opposition supporter. I would suggest if you are going to ban a major candidate that it needs to be a little stronger than that. If you want to get Trump elected the best thing to do is tell Americans not vote for him, but more importantly tell them they are not allowed to. Just like Obama telling us to vote Remain, people are contrary by nature. Edited by Badger11 (29 Dec 2023 8.23am)

Edited by Badger11 (29 Dec 2023 8.23am) Whilst I agree that this is a gift to Trump I don’t believe that it’s a stunt done by stupid people. The Democrats know the score and how this will play out full well and if they could avoid it, they would. This is simply someone doing their job as they see it. Following and applying the law, whatever the consequences. Which will eventually end up being determined by the conservative dominated Supreme Court who face the tricky task of overturning it without seeming to be interfering in politics. They will probably use an obscure text in the Constitution as a smokescreen and interpret in a way which means that States cannot regard Presidents as Federal Officials. What needs to be done in the USA is to get the focus back on what Trump did and away from what is being done to try to stop him running again. The first shows him as unfit to be President. The second as a martyr.
