Good to see you have realised that. Sovereignty is out of the window as Mrs May asserts her self given right to avoid parliament. Brexit is a hollow sham for leavers too. I think a brexit tax for them to pay for it is just and reasonable. Do you know what that word means? Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (17 Dec 2016 12.24pm)

I wish you would. We are leaving. Deal with it. And if we don't get full control of immigration then expect a massive UKIP vote at the next election. I'm dealing with it. I understand we are leaving. If you'd taken any notice of what I've written in the past you'd know this. But my point remains, what happened to the scaremongering about Turkey joining the EU?

There could never be free movement for Turkey it would lead to mass unemployment in the EU the French blocked this at first it was a long time ago but the size of the working population in Turkey makes it untenable so how could that change. .

Another rich, privileged leftie is 'concentrating on the fight against the populist right' following the Brexit vote. Does he, and his ilk, realise that making these loftie proclaimations on how people should think and act, only drives the ordinary voter into the hands of the Tories and UKIP? This is an observation, not a trigger for a load of defensive abuse from the usual suspects, but the left in the West appears to be in a terrible mess. They appear to have no coherent policies, no visionaries, no leaders with guts and idea how 'progressive politics' should be applied to a fragmented but (as contradictory as it sounds) inter connected globalised World. If people like this actor are going to be the 'voice of progressive politics' then the political class of the left must be ideologically dead. I do believe that part of this is driven from the 'progressive lefts' failure to deal with Globalisation. Globalisation is, conversely, totally what the left is about and not about at the same time. It's big business (boo from the left) but criticise freedom of movement and it is 'racism'. Democracy needs credible opposition. It looks very much like we are in a period where the right can proceed unopposed in governance for a decade. The left needs to get its act together.

All very interesting Matthew but there is nothing in that article that say's Michael Sheen is a type of leftie that you find so abhorrent, is there? You are just trying to smear him to make you and your self-righteous politics feel better about yourselves. Bit sad really, isn't it?

An interesting idea, but ukip have been elected with a 13 seat majority in the commons and would like to do away with parliamentary democracy to really give one final push to send our economy over the edge....and then the 'popular' press will blame 'remoaners' and immigrants for raising our national debt to 2trillion by 2020 (in 2010 it was 1 trillion).
