I always disagreed with the privatisation of water. The problem is and was , how to pay for the modernisation required to a system hundreds of years old in some cases. The private companies have just fleeced everyone. This is not a party political issue it is a national issue. The pollution caused and allowed is a disgrace. What to do going forward is the most important question, we need at least a thirty year plan. It is now a national problem, but Labour had nothing to do with privatizing the business. Would the water companies have performed better while under public control is the true question? The additional millions of people and thus sewage coupled with public austerity since the financial crisis would make it a close run thing. I genuinely don't know.

Privatisation has been a disaster for some industries as posters on here are quick to point out. Millions paid out in dividends to shareholders which should have been invested. However who is to say nationalisation would have been any better. You still have to pay management bonuses if you want the best staff and the track record of nationalised companies isn't great either. Personally I have no problem with privatisation the real issue for me are the regulators. If you have a one that has the power and is prepared to use it then you can stop companies paying dividends when they are not investing in the infrastructure. Right now most of the regulators are toothless and in bed with the people they should be regulating. Fix that and a lot of these problems go away.

King Charles speech, he looked in pain as he had to read out Sunak's backward energy and environmental policies. The rest of it so lacking, a clapped-out dodgy motor, it felt like fail along with me I have no ambition except to slow down the rate of decline. Nothing there to believe that Britain's chronic growth and productivity will be addressed its forecast to get steadily worse.

He'd look far worse if he had to read out what I'd have him say.

How did they ever make such a loose cannon Home Secretary. She must be doing it deliberately. Now the police are biased as is anybody who thinks she is an imbecile. 'Armistice Day organisers in favour of pro-Palestine march'. Pointless posturing from Sunak, and her spreading division and hatred, just another week of this complete shower of an administration.
