So if it meant economic ruin, that set the country back decades, that would be ok? What about if the UK was unable to trade with the EU? Or had to accept humiliating trade agreements with the EU and its partners, because it lacked sufficient negotiating power? The consequences have to be balanced, and the approach pragmatic. Leaving the EU regardless of consequence, is as absurd as staying in the EU just because we don't know what the consequence will be. That won't happen, it's speculation and the EU members have a vested interest in ensuring that business continues smoothly, given the number of German cars and bottles of French wine that end up on these shores each year. However, as someone who is ideologically opposed to the EU, I repeat, I would rather a hard Brexit than a no Brexit, or a 'not quite Brexit'.

The EU could choose to subsidise the 'losses to the German Car industry' of one EU member state. I doubt we could afford to subsidise for the loss of 27 markets. Italy could struggle with the loss of the UK markets, but the UK couldn't manage without the EU markets. Its really going to be about what demands they make that we can live with. Trade wise we'll be at a disadvantage outside of the EU.

I think its kind of difficult not to be biased against the BNP and assorted far right fringe f**ks like the EDL, Britain First... or a supporter. Neo-Nazi lites and faux-fascist wannabes are as objectionable as people who idealise Stalin, Lenin or Mao on the left. You are correct. They have no place in society. But, equally, posting that kind of rhetoric on a thread about a referendum to leave the EU will be seen by many as a bit of a *leftist* dig. Like you say, both far right and far left are obnoxious. How far left is Corbyn? And how far right is May?

It would be my humble view that reading Article 50,there is nothing in it to reverse it and departure is the automatic ensuing consequence , so the Supreme Court rightly proceeds on the basis its irreversible...however,seems to me nothing to stop the EU and UK agreeing down the line that UK would remain a member pre actual leaving or to be readmitted later...but in itself Article 50 is a one way exit process once triggered
