Pent-up demand accounts for that. Separating the impact of covid from that of Brexit is an impossible calculation. Time alone will make things clearer.

No denial of wanting it to fail though.
Interesting from the bastion of fairness and reality.

I really didn't think it was necessary, as it was a rather silly remark.

Of course, I don't WANT it to fail. I always want my country to prosper. I don't even expect it to fail. Not in any kind of complete crisis way, although if the Union falls apart, I might have to revise that opinion. I just think we would have been much better staying in and that, in time, that opinion will be much more widely shared than it is now.

Thank you but the links did not use hard facts.

The last link and its Brexit section (9.2) featured policy. It was factual but it was not centred on the
topic mentioned.

I said I am unaware of any study on this. Indeed, I don't think it is really possible to measure it statistically, as so much depends upon personal perceptions.

The links do provide information provided by serious, objective observers. If nothing else, they assist in dispelling some of the myths that have been built up.

I agree that opinions are not facts.

Your accusations of others using their opinions as facts is pure hypocrisy on your part.

I also think your comment to a poster that he was " showing more signs of dementia " was unacceptable. To use this particularly cruel and distressing illness to have a dig at someone is really low. I hope you don't have any friends or family members afflicted with dementia, if you did you wouldn't be so glib.

I am glad, for once, that you seem to agree with me.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

It was definitely below the belt to make the dementia comment. At the same time I must have read about 20 times now the term "old man" being used to insult Wisbech including in this thread, so let's not fool ourselves into thinking those comments aren't alluding to the exact some thing (that he is elderly and mentally failing or 'past it').

I'd say these are pretty low on the scale as insults.

Sure, people have dementia, but people are low IQ as well does that mean we can't call people dim?

Regardless, I'd say calling someone an old man isn't quite the same as saying they have dementia.... that's a bit of a stretch.

IQ is a possessive noun. People 'can' HAVE low IQ's, not ARE low IQ.

Next time you call someone 'dim' think again about how insulting that really is:

"Intellectual disability (ID), also known as general learning disability and formerly mental retardation (MR),is a generalized neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by significantly impaired intellectual and adaptive functioning. It is defined by an IQ under 70"

Yet another thread gets locked, as it has turned into nothing more than a place to swap insult, (and now to determine the degree of insult ffs)

Believe it or not, I hate having to do this!

Dementia isn't an illness. It's a generic term for a condition, embracing several illnesses.. A condition I am very familiar with, as it affects a close family member, and I used to own a care home which had many elderly mentally infirm residents. Many of the EMI can be perfectly happy, within their own world. The distress is worse for those who love them. So I am sure Hrolf is touched by your concern for him.

Showing concern for anyone demonstrating symptoms is not to have a "dig" at them, although I accept my comment was a little tongue in cheek, even if accurate. Hrolf, and others, routinely aim much worse at me. So your words have a somewhat hollow ring. I await your protests the next time someone insults me!
