Comes back to accountability of the manager.
Can’t give Hodgson a free pass because of the players .
He selects them, coaches them and is supposed to motivate them.
This is surely what management is all about .
In my view part of the reason why Townsend and Zaha have failed this season is because of the defensive positions they are required to take during the majority of the games.
This has to be down to Hodgson and is part of the reason we carry no threat or thrust in the wide areas.
We also are extremely conservative in our midfield play.
I cannot accept that Hodgson bears no responsibility.

Ayew has been our only real threat, midfield inability has nothing to do with our coaching.

I think we can all agree our football this season has invariably been awful to watch. Dull, utterly one-dimensional, predictable, turgid football.

Combine that with a 💩 run of results, and performances devoid of passion, and it’s no surprise people are calling for Roy’s departure. The players, and our captain, also need to take responsibility for some pitiful performances.

I hope, for the sake of the club and its football, something changes to rejuvenate the players’ and fans’ passion. I can’t see that happening though with Roy’s brand of football (whether it keeps you in the PL or not).

I didn’t say inability in midfield.
I said our conservative play in midfield which is partly attributable to Hodgson’s player selection and tactics.
Hodgson never tried Camarasa who offered something different to the other solid midfielders, presumably because he didn’t fit Hodgson’s beloved defensive shape.
Hodgson has totally mismanaged Meyer, who may not be good enough but we’ll never find out as he’s never had a proper run in central midfield.
The cheerleaders can continue to salute him as our finest ever manager while Hodgson takes us to potentially 8 defeats on the trot and a downward spiral.
To me this seems like living in an Alice in Wonderland type world where poor performances and mediocrity are seen as a cause of celebration.

Camarasa was a sick note with a bad attitude who had his own medical adviser. It is telling that his parent club were loaning him despite struggling in the league.

Meyer isn’t good enough so why would Roy give him a run of games in central midfield when premier league points are so precious ? In fact he failed to impose himself against 10 man Grimsby when played centrally. Similarly poor against Colchester.

Meyer was given a chance at the start of the season and was weak and wasteful when presented with some good openings against Everton and anonymous against Sheffield Utd. He was dropped and we then beat Man Utd and Villa.

By the same token Meyer was man of the match when we beat Burnley at home last season and also played very well in the 3-2 away win at Manchester City.
One can prove anything with selective matches.
I too have doubts about Meyer in the Premier League, but he is a German international with a different skill set to our other midfielders.
My point is that he’s never been given a run of games in central midfield with two holding players behind him so he can play with some freedom.
Camarasa was player of the year for Cardiff in their premier league season and scored goals from midfield as well as taking a decent set piece.
Any fans I spoke to were delighted when he enjoyed as again he offered a different skill set to other midfielders.
I’m not prepared to speculate on his attitude as I don’t know the situation other than hearing Hodgson praising him for his professionalism.

The Man U game was a fluke. Even though I would say 3 defencive midfielders would be the correct choice against them. Ayew scoring with our first chance then a sucker punch whilst they were hunting for a winner.

We beat 10 men Aston Villa 1-0 with them having a late goal ruled out by VAR. It wasn't impressive.

Against Everton we left Zaha on the bench. Effectively taking off one attacking option for another. Meyer was kept out by Pickford a couple of times. If he was that bad, then Camerasa was sat on the bench as an unused sub.

He got 10 minutes v Sheffield United.

That Grimsbey game was a Hodgson special harking back to the days when he bored everyone off watching England. The only player who looked half decent that game was Reidewald in the holding midfield position. But its a mystery as to why you'd only play 1 striker against a team who are going to shove everyone behind the ball. Having said that, we did have over 30 shots, it's a bit of a freak occourance. Had an early one gone in it might have been a completely different story.

Certainly soporific and turgid at times but we will be in the PL again next season so as far as the 'Board' is concerned the end has justified the means."Happy days" for them.

And in my opinion it's a No. Football is a game of opinions after all! But let's look at some of the reasons -

a coach of huge experience who knows football more than most of us could ever dream of
a coach who doesn't panic under pressure. How many people would have walked into Palace after 7 games, no points, no goals and comfortably kept us up
(c) tactically astute. Look at the wins over Man City, Arsenal, Man Utd - to name a few
(d) the players respect him and his methods. No hint of dressing room issues have emerged under Roy

Of course, the past 5 games have been pretty dreadful but it needs to be balanced in the round. We were safe with 8 games to go and the circumstances of Covid make the games feel like friendlies. Roy knows the squad needs freshening up as he has said so often enough; he also knows the kind of younger players who are likely to work. I would certainly trust his judgement in the market and its most unlikely he would have gone after the likes of Benteke or Sakko - two of the three big earners - in my judgement.

Could not agree more and don’t forget his win rate with us is over 42%!

We remain in the PL despite our style of football rather than because of it. That style has run it’s course and I do not believe it will be successful next season. I’d also prefer not to watch that style for another season.

Why would he do that, he has done a miraculous job with the squad, how can we be so awful with backing a manager that is Palace through and through. We can beat Moan.U tonight they were poor at the end against Southampton who I thought looked extremely average with some dreadful passing and we can beat Wolves in the same way we beat them last season, Spurs look awful.

We should back our manager.

Backing a manager regardless of performance is just silly - anyone still making out criticisms of Hodgson are unjustified has got their head in the sand... fair enough if you don’t think it warrants a sacking yet, but there are glaring holes which undeniably deserve criticism.

It will be interesting to compare Saints performance v United yesterday with ours... I thought they were excellent on the whole; pressed aggressively and racked up more possession, more shots, more shots on target and more corners than the home side. Also thoroughly entertaining to watch.

Do people consider Southampton’s squad so superior to ours that we couldn’t dream of doing that? Is it so far fetched for us to approach a game like that?

The big advantage they have is that they have striker who can score more than 20 goals this season on his own compared our 30 for the whole team!

Broadly I agree, but it’s largely irrelevant when looking at a performance like yesterday. Their success came from how they approached the game, not any individual moment/player.
