Jimmy Cable died last weekend. Bit of a legend round my way, unfortunately the booze got hold of him. I hear that most of Orpington used to travel when he was fighting. He was British Champion and held a form of the European title, a good pro but almost untouchable in the unlicensed game once he’d retired. Used to see him knocking about, often in a Palace coat , I looked him up born in Penge apparently. RIP Edited by Casual (17 Aug 2020 5.43pm) TBH I hadn’t heard of him until now. Just looked him up, decent record.

The problem is, is that those ex boxers who didn't invest there money wisely and spent it all (of which there are many) they simply look at these comebacks as an opportunity to get some bills paid and keep them afloat for a while.. Apart from this I do also think they genuinely miss the adrenaline rush of climbing between those ropes again... When it's all you've ever known or done I would imagine that so many struggle to find anything that will help them replace that buzz... A common problem for most ex sportsman.
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

He certainly doesn’t need the cash so as you say, must be driven by adulation etc. Brilliant fighter in his prime and pure box office.

Oh no, it's true, these older fellas... Just put your feet up and stay retired.

Whyte v Povetkin tonight Has there honestly ever been a worst pay per view than this in the history of boxing? I guess Mayweather McGregor but at least that had novelty factor. Could be a good fight tonight but never ppv.

Our dodgy .. I mean legit.. stream cut out just before the uppercut. You've got to feel for Whyte. The ultimate nearly man, who never gets the fights he deserves. It was bound to end this way.
