He has done himself no favours by fleeing the UK after being arrested.

Meant to be in court today - so clearly was never intending to attend

That's alright then.

Did I suggest it was alright? If you think so then perhaps you ought to reread my first comment on the subject.

The Catholic Herald are though in no position to complain as they carry some of the most hypocritical and intolerant pieces of journalism you are ever likely to read.

They used to have a forum which I contributed to for a while as my wife then was a practising Catholic and I wanted to understand the reasoning for some of the things they were so firm about.

It was quite an experience. Intransigence on fire. Self righteousness without any attempt at reasoning. If you were a Catholic you must believe without question, and they did. The attitudes resonate with some found here.

Maybe he intends to contact the people smugglers so he can experience at first hand the thrill of crossing the channel in an overloaded rubber boat.

Or maybe he will surface in the USA, get himself onto one of Trump’s rally platforms (Trump circulated at least one of his videos) like Farage did. Perhaps if Trump wins he’ll ask Starmer to appoint him as our Ambassador.

For someone so anti EU it’s ironic he feels safer there than in his own country.

People from the UK now need to claim asylum abroad due to political beliefs. I was thinking Hungary - or go the whole hog, Russia.

Hitchens famously advises young conservatives that it's 'all over'. I know what he means.

However, while the central mass in Britain has gone from small 'c' to central left I don't see that trend continuing due to decline and the eventual disillusionment with Labour in power.

However, the rapidly increasing minority population will always vote left and eventually it's possible that they will operate as the left's foot soldiers as they do in the US.

Dud I suggest you did? You posted a link saying no offence was intended. I posted one saying it was. It's not complicated.

I believe they would call that faith.

As a doctrine Papal infallibility doesn't leave much wriggle room.

The Olympic committee have unequivocally stated they didn’t intend any offence. That the people actually involved accept that they were basing their performance on the Last Supper doesn’t impact that at all. They aren’t responsible for the overall intended message.
