Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Birmingham City Council declares itself bankrupt. I just read the BBC News Live section quite a lot about the various issues although I had to dig right down to the bottom before I finally found one mention that it's a Labour controlled council. Funny that. The Commonwealth Games / Equal Pay / And a crap IT system. Well done Birmingham Council but it's all the fault of the Tories.

It s their fault, and I'm sure that's how this will play out. Labour or Tory councils, after all the years of increased responsibilities dumped on them, accompanied by real-time cuts, it is an impossible job. I suspect most are teetering on the edge if not bankrupt, probably digging into their reserves. What goes around, comes around.

So far all the councils that have gone bankrupt are due to their own incompetence, a mix of Tory and Labour. Croydon - trying to be a property developer Slough - years of poor financial management and mishandling of commercial investment Northamptonshire - Boasted they had the lowest council tax of any county yeah so they couldn't pay for the services. Thurrock Council Conned into spending 500m on a solar farm.
- Held the Commonwealth Games that well known generated of income NOT. - Didn't have a proper pay structure so now faced with a 700m equality pay bill again entirely their own fault. - They mismanaged an IT system 100m

Never the less unless we change our ethos it wont matter whether you are pro or Anti EU. The government has been signing free trade agreements but even they recognise that if business don't grasp the opportunities these deals means nothing. Some Greece did it twice. They inflated their GDP to get in and admitted it and were forgiven. Then they did it again to get a loan. Admitted it again and asked for another loan which when given to them they spent on lowering their pension age!!!!! The EU is a juggarnaught heading towards a cliff edge. In fighting and discourse is the buzz word.

Internal Labour report says don't blame the Tories for the mess at Birmingham Yes I know it's the Mail doesn't mean that it's not true though. So far all of the councils that have gone bust, both Tory and Labour, had everything to do with stupidity and dogma rather than just simply not enough money. There is always an argument that local government does not get enough funds but as the internal Labour report suggest Birmingham City Council is a hill not worth dying on.

There will have to be a settlement for local authorities, as there will for crumbling concrete. Plenty more disasters out there waiting to happen. One for the future - Building on land contaminated by raw sewage. Really it's odds-on.

'There would be more prison escapes under labour'. Really? Getting desperate now. Anyway I like prison escapes, if the labour offer includes mass break-outs, I will vote for them. Otherwise it's the greens.
