The effectiveness of masks is about to be proved one way or another both here and in the states.

Some Doctors /Professors are saying the data is inadequate to make informed judgements, on TV this morning. And the UK knew this was coming as early as January 2020. I wonder where the PM and MP's are taking their holidays at the moment ? Edited by Forest Hillbilly (08 Jun 2020 2.18pm)

Hilariously they have already updated the above article and title from saying it's "very rare" to get it from asymptomatic people to adding that the scientist has now "stressed this observation was based on a relatively small set of studies." So who knows. But as you say, it's as much pre-symptomatic people that we may need to worry about. Get that mask on and hope for the best!

The effectiveness is in the experimental stage and results are expected in 10-14 days

DC National Guard troops test positive for coronavirus after being deployed to George Floyd protests [Link] Probably a similar story here. Viewing covid-19 with grave seriousness one minute and not caring less the next may have grave consequences for elderly family members.

Self inflicted.

Turns out the herd immunity in week one was wrong, the government scientist says 25000 people may have died by that gaff, should have locked down like we did a week later, big big mistake, 25000 families devestated by an error, even though the rest of europe and a gov advisory body said lock down, two weeks before, boris wasn"t listening, i feel this is boris"s long range Iraqi gun moment!

It's a tricky one to weigh up though because even if we had done that, wouldn't we still end up in a similar situation down the line? Unless we're going to be hiding away until a vaccine comes along anyway. If they'd told us all to wear masks early on, I can see sense in that. Combined with a degree of social distancing maybe we could've avoided a total shut down. I alternate between thinking "let's blast through this" and "we're doomed to have a second wave". The balance between health and the economy is a tough one, but unless the numbers become unthinkable, is another shutdown realistic?
