Looks like we may have learnt our lesson about bringing in overpriced stock on super high wages. Benteke and Sakho are on silly money for a non top ten team.
We have now cut our cloth more in line with what we are. Luckily we’ve got Roy who should keep us between 11th and 16th.
If we get a striker and RB today I’m thinking we will be a better balanced squad without our maverick WZ.
I’d take £70m and Tosun to get it done.

people can moan all they want but i will be happy if we sign at least a striker. im not too bothered about right back as we have ward.

signing 5 - 7 players without spending too much, nothing wrong with that.

Business to date is a third choice goalie
Resigning a squad player we already had
An aging centre back on big wages, very much a short term fix
Camarasa (not pressing but a decent player)
And a sick note in a position that is already stocked.

It just seems like a p*sspoor approach. We haven’t yet sorted out the two most pressing positions. We are lacking any depth up front or in both full back areas. We still have Ward as first choice RB which is not good enough. On top of that we don’t have depth out wide.

Poor business on the whole so far.

In terms of squad depth we have added well in this window. My only concern is we still haven’t replaced AWB and we still haven’t bought or loaned a goal scorer. Of course, if Wilf goes today then we will need a direct replacement for him as well.

I see HLTCO did a piece this morning blaming FFP for not getting a replacement in for Wilf before selling him. I don’t see this as a valid reason at all as we just picked up £50m for AWB. I’m going to wait until end of play today to make my judgement on the success of this window, but I fear we have left it too late. Hope to be proved wrong.

Not sure how a player who has started more than 300 games at the age of 28 can be defined as a sick note.

People who are saying we need to cut our cloth etc- we have taken on a 33 year old at £75k a week and a 29 year old who hasn’t played for a season who was on £50k a week and I doubt has taken a pay cut, while other similar clubs are investing in younger talent.
What’s our ambition this season? To hope that there are 3 teams worse than us?
Parrish should do the decent thing and start looking for someone with the money to build the club to come in and take over while we are still in the PL.

Do you not understand Parish has only a 18% share and is not down to him to sell the club.

I’m scratching my head on our transfer policy this summer.
At the beginning of the window not too many had centre half and central midfield as priorities.
The consensus was that a right back and a goal scorer were the requirements and possibly a winger and left back to compete with PVA .
Instead we’ve bought a centre half and two central midfielders (when we already have Luka, McArthur, Kouyate, Meyer and Schlupp).
In terms of our youth players the ones who are closest to breakthrough are supposed to be Woods, Dreher and Kirby I.e a centre half and two midfielders.
Any potential breakthrough looks less likely with the new signings in the way, and we still currently have the gaps that we had at the beginning of the window.
No doubt the Zaha saga will conclude one way or the other today and I expect us to add at least a right back and forward in the coming hours.
All a bit desperate though.
I’m not Hodgson’s biggest fan, but if he keeps us around mid table this season he will have done very well.

Do you not understand that it's Parish's 18% that he wants to hang on to that is stopping any take-over as suitable billionaires don't want minority shareholders involved especially when they are probably insisting on running the club as well

I agree.

Just wonder whether this is a slower way of changing how we play - especially if Camarasa goes through. Better than FdP hammering square pegs into round holes or Pardewball.

I think it is, espically with Wilf on his way out

What a disgrace.
We should have tied these up a month ago

Let's keep the ball this season!
