Yes, that's a two way street and even where people have preconceived ideas, positive or negative, they tell you nothing about the individual.

I have been told I'm a free thinker and what I see as harmless may not be to someone else. How do I know how it comes across I'm not the other person. Some may take it as harmless, others may not. That's the whole point surely. There is no rule book so context and manner are the guide on how bad or not it is. A coin has two sides.

Sometimes when you talk about a ‘short’ or ‘tall’ black guy to another black guy you often get a pause. I’ll always just describe people as they are if you don’t know their names as I’m past the fretting over what someone I know might think but you often get a pause. Maybe I have nothing to hide and can’t stand the fake nonsense I know some black people cringe at. Could be because they’re unused to the correct description or people not fretting about it. Don’t know. I think it is Romesh Ranganathan who has the joke about the neighbour feeling uncomfortable about describing a black person. The joke at the end is the uncomfortable neighbour is also black. It’s a well delivered funny joke of our times.

That's what I noticed with your protest points of late and predominantly highlighting the more lawless elements. When I saw your contributions I wasn't quite sure how to take them, but in the yellow vests you were literally the only person condemning the widespread rioting and looting. Where someone applies equal principle and operates by a level playing field, I think that's important context for others to be aware of.

That's the issue and why this is such an emotive subject. Not many if any come back from being accused of being racist let alone tried and prosecuted. Even though they themselves may well admit it was a mistake, I mean would you accept if TR admitted he made a mistake.

Yes it can go too far where people feel that they are treading on eggshells with something innocuous. I have a Black Dave and a White Dave in my circle of rugby mates. Without being able to call them that I'd be stuffed

Exactly and it is a shame to be afraid to speak what you feel and think. Even if its negative it doesnt necessarily constitute racism. Constructive criticism is useful in building bridges if they are broken. You're right. There are good role models in all communities and they don't always solely come with warm words.

Weird to do that for someone you've never met. Mental illness? Projection? What is his background? Never mind....enough said on that one.

If things f*** up badly, the behaviour of the cop, the rioting, and you're the major presiding over it I can see how it might make you feel like they're losing the plot. Plus people act differently when they're being watched or in a group setting. As did the cop, who was probably trying to show those new to the job how it's done. That went well.
