I watched the footage of this yesterday and how any jury can acquit the officer in question is beyond belief. This kind of thing should have people out in the streets rioting, its a complete failure of the justice system.

That officer should be starting a life sentence. Absolutely no justification for that at all, in the slightest. People should be angry, at a carte blanche being given to cops to shoot and kill people.

Shaun King from BLM said police are targeting black people and murdering them. He also said that there isn't a crime problem in the black community, it was a myth made up by white cops to justify their murderous rampage (black males between 16-40, make up under 6% of population, but commit 52% of murders)
Shortly after he said this on Hannity... A black guy picked up a rifle and shot loads of cops in Dallas.

If you fill a country with guns, people will get shot.

Shaver... Was told... "If you move your hands again, I'm gonna shoot you" he then moved his hands towards his waistband... He was shot and killed.

Don't try to defend the Shaver shooting, the cop in question was out of order and control. That guy posed no threat at all and its a f**king power trip of a guy in uniform with an assault rifle.

At no point was that cops life even remotely in danger or threat, either before he fired or during the time he fired.

I had a problem with the procedure. There was no need to get to the point where the guy was shot. In the end the guy makes a strange move and gets killed.
Guns are the problem. Some cops take no chances with suspects and maybe enjoy their power trip just a little too much.
It's too easy to judge when you aren't in the firing line.

That didn't seem like a policeman rounding on a slightly tipsy father of two businessman more like a pumped-up ex-Marine re-living a Taliban/IS compound and seeing himself under severe threat.

Proper fvcked up. Are they recruiting mentally unstable types in their droves for their Police Depts perhaps and giving them weapons?

To say the cop was in the firing line is stretching the truth somewhat - He's stood there, with an Assault rifle, aiming at a man who is most certainly trying to comply with his increasingly difficult orders, and begging not to be shot.

I don't disagree. They almost invited him to make a bad move when they essentially had the whole thing under control. He could have been cuffed and on his way to processing but they elected to 'punish' him and then kill him when the whole thing could have been avoided.

As it turns out, Black Lives Matter has taken up Shaver's cause. [Link]

You missed out the step between being warned about moving his hands and then being told to crawl before getting shot. He was doing his best to comply with contradictory and, frankly, weird, instructions from the cops.

Why didn't one of them go over and cuff him when he was face down with his hands behind his back? Why make him crawl to you when you can walk to him? This was just crazy.

But then, just look at the guy who did the shooting...

Same with Anton Stirling... He reached for a gun... He got shot. America have cops with guns that will shoot you... This is because USA has loads of guns.

America has to sort its obsession with guns out first, then these incidents will become less and less.

There is some doubt as to whether Stirling reached for his gun, but the simple truth is that having a gun around makes you more likely to get shot by a significant multiple.

Now, a black man getting arrested and in complete compliance can still get shot by cops (Philando Castile being one). But you are correct that a heavily armed citizenry means that cops - who are supposed to "serve and protect" are on such an edge that they will shoot first before even thinking about asking questions.

The judge instructed the jury that the test of Brailsford's behavior isn't what would a cop do, but what would an untrained person do. That is completely nonsensical and it goes somewhat towards explaining why the jury could vote to acquit. [Link]

The simple truth is that a regular person would not be in that situation because they would have the option to retreat without engaging Shaver. The judge's instructions set the bar for Shaver's actions so low that acquittal became the likely outcome.

There were 5 heavily armed cops on the scene. Ironically, instead of this being more evidence of how unnecessary it was to shoot Shaver, it was used by the defense because Brailsford was merely acting to protect his fellow officers.

Presumably, at this point, Braislford believed he was facing an X-Man or one of The Avengers.

That's absurd; because as you state, and untrained person wouldn't be in a position to respond to police summons.

Its worth noting, that had that happened in Afghanistan or Iraq, they'd have been tried and likely convicted.
