I always felt they missed a trick when ikea went up in Purley, just imagine that being the new home of palace, with the two towers being known as the 'palace towers' with red and blue. Was an old power station and the store opened early 90s, with the tram and all that parking, would have been ideal. Couldn't think of anything more depressing than going there for a game!

See how many 'Sainsbury's locals' they want us to build them in exchange for the big one on Whitehorse lane. I suggested this a while back. If it hasn't been discussed by the club already then they are mad.

Why? Bobby BMW and Kaos have answered your question for me perfectly.

'Park and Ride' would be difficult if not impossible from Croydon as where would you find a car park to utilise? If capacity is going to be increased by 9,000-14,000 at Selhurst Park fans would be wiser to travel to matches by train. The roads approaching and surrounding the ground will not be able to cope with the increase in traffic and on street parking which is already pretty poor will decline further. I take it you don't use Southern often? They can't even run a service on a week day nevermind when theres football on. Also have you not seen the crap service they offer to Brighton when they play at home?

I would try offering to build them a new facility as part of the new complex. But I reckon SP has tried his best. Attachment: stadium-map-4361-2314392.jpg (196.03Kb)

I suggested this a while back. If it hasn't been discussed by the club already then they are mad. Strikes me a bit of a strange deal. CPFC 'build' 6 small shops. Sainsburys know how much they cost, why do we need to offer 6 stores? I bet we don't know how much they cost anyway. They sell us the land and use the money how they wish. We're not even negotiating with Sainsburys. It's more likely it's their land agent.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Stadium plans' by bexleydave Very short sighted of Sainsbury's IMO if they put a block on our stadium plans for the sake of a car park. Just think of the extra potential footfall going into the Sainsbury's attached to the ground, with potentially 10,000 extra punters, every other week for the forseeable

I'd say because the Purley Way is already one massive traffic jam at the weekend and in rush hour & has no real train service (from a logistical point of view.) Ultimately, it's nowhere near Selhurst/Crystal Palace/SE25 either. This Club's fanbase (and target audience) is local so a move away, even a relatively short distance, would compromise the future fan base.
You're right, the target audience and future fanbase should be, but I'd suggest most people coming to games aren't from an SE25 postcode. They may well have been locals originally but I think most people there each Saturday are probably more 'expats' and their children who now live in Surrey, Sussex or other parts of South London.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

But I reckon SP has tried his best. Really? 30 years ago you sold part of your garden to a neighbour. At the time you wanted the money and both of you were happy with the price. Your neighbour used this land to build a garage, a green house and a summer house. You've now come into a few quid and want to build a huge great, fcuk off extension to your property and want the land back. Your neighbour has two options; he can tell you to go fcuk yourself or he can tell you how much he wants for the land. We're lucky Sainsbury's are prepared to talk, they could just tell us to fcuk off. Edited by bexleydave (03 May 2017 10.56am)
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Stadium plans' by bexleydave We should redevelop Selhurst in the short term and begin plans to move to a new stadium as well. We would be in it by around 2027 and I'd still be alive hopefully. We will never rival the big London clubs until we do. Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (03 May 2017 11.07am)

But I reckon SP has tried his best. Why are they playing dirty? I think its good business practice to get as much as you can for something you dont need to sell. Lets face it CPFC2010 did very similar when buying the club and the ground. If we want it bad enough they will pay it.

A New stand would be at least 75m so wasting that on a short term fix is pointless. If we are going to move then leave Selhurst as it is and throw all the money at a new ground.
