I can only think of 1 manager that would guarantee the club success, but he will require a reasonable salary, and a reasonable players wages fund. It's 1.Martin o'neil for me. 2. CP2010 keep telling us fans that we are now a rich club. Well prove it and put your money where your mouth is. Funny thing is that I'm sure we will sign an inexperienced manager like Hughton, Southgate, etc who will be unable to attract players and will land up having to manage the existing squad until the end of the season. This really is a big, big disision for CP2010.

1. You're deluded

2. Where/when have they said that?

...jeeeezus

Martin O'Neill......hmmmmm. Agree with EEA you are deluded. Please qualify statements that you make as CPFC2010 have always been guarded with how much money they really have.

It was the right decision yesterday. Yes we want a long term stability but with the group of players we should be higher up the table and remit for long term stability doesn't include going down surely.

I was interested in Steves point about George only needing to replace 2 players.
Derry and Hill.
Cannot remember the exact sequence of when players left but below is the team that played at Hillsborough.
Certainly 6 needed replacing.
Plus if it was only 2 Steve should not have sanctioned the others Davids etc.

Crystal Palace
01 Speroni
03 Hill 05 McCarthy
17 Lawrence 20 Butterfield 22 Ertlyellow card 04 Derry 07 Ambrose
14 Scannell (Davis 90)
18 Andrewyellow card (N'Diaye 61)
19 Lee (John 84)
Substitutes
35 Manns, 02 Clyne, 24 Davis, 10 Carle, 21 Djilali, 33 N'Diaye, 09 John

If read properley Steve said 2 KEY players Derry and Hill

Lawrance, Butterfield, Ertl, John were hardly KEY players

Lee was sold by Burley

Others mention Moses and Fonte they were not here at the end of last season let alone when CPFC2010 took over so can hardly be considered

Burley brought in Marrow, Vaughn, Gardner, Obika, Counago, Dorman, Davids, Garvan and Bennett so we lost 6 Players and replaced them with 9 players so that's a BIGGER squad than we ended with last season so numbers were hardly decimated. These are the players BURLEY replaced our outgoing players with.

As for Steve being arrogant and not answering some's questions if I remember rightly he was accused of only answering mens questions surely that's calling him sexist and being Arrogant maybe he took offence to this and answered accordingly.

The man come on here the day he sacked our manager to answer questions that takes courage and all he gets is sly put downs and slagged off pathetic. Regardless of whether his decision was right or wrong people who disagree start slagging him off and and saying the trust is broken if your that fuking bothered makes some money buy the club and run it your way or shut up.
It is ok to question his choices but to slag him off is diabolical.

As for all this knee jerk decision B@llocks and he said if we won he may not have been sacked and your worried by this. Think about it after the Forest game the board may have said we will give Burley a chance to turn it around but if there's one more heartless performance he's gone. So on this what Steve said would have been true about not sacking if we won but it wouldn't have been Knee jerk still so don't critisize untill you know the full story. Asking him would be fine but throwing a hissy fit because he decided against answering is childish.

As for my opinion I believe Burley's position become untenerable as of YESTERDAY losing to one of our closest rivals with no fight or passion is a disgrace.

I agree the players do share some of the blame but why are we not seeing the best of them is it down to motivation for the manager, the position were in or is it themselves but I'M sure we will soon find out.

Rant over

You're wrong again, PDS. The consortium have claimed to have more money than QPR at one point (I'm pretty sure they haven't).

The point is that they're going to run the club as a business - to avoid the financial problems we've experienced in the past. I still agree that this is exactly the right way to run a football club - I'm just less convinved that it is actually what will happen.

As for 'we should be higher up the table' - possibly. I think we would be too, has they stayed fit or we'd had a little bit of good fortune somewhere along the line.

As for stability - as several people have pointed out -we'd have a far better chance of staying up if we were going into the transfer window with an established manager who was familier with the squad, knew what area needed strengthening, and had targets identified. It's pretty simple stuff.

Right. Sorry if this goes against the grain, but I'm really disappointed with the Q&A session tonight. I think Mr Parish was VERY selective as to which questions he answered, and I firmly believe that the session was more of a publicity stunt than a genuine attempt to keep the fans up to date and provide transparency.

Syd posed some superb questions - ignored. Still there is no answer as to why it is acceptable for a board of directors to make such big decisions on one poor performance - and before anyone jumps in and talks about the season as a whole, Mr Parish himself said that the sacking would not necessarily have happened had the result/performance today have been different.

My other huge concern is that, despite having it put to him time and again that Burley was working with a decimated squad - he pretty much laughed this off and made out that it was Burley's squad. I'm sorry, but Burley was appointed at a time when he had to strengthen immediately - and did the best he could do to repair a lot of damage in a short space of time.

A few months is simply not enough time to build and shape a squad - especially with the transfer window system that is in place today. I also think we've had awful luck with injuries - another point that has been conveniently ignored.

All in all, today has brought me back down to earth with a massive bang. CPFC2010 may well turn out to be better for our club than previous owners (not hard) but they are far from perfect and far from the honest, transparent bunch that they would have us believe. I am also no longer convinced that they are the shrewd and patient owners I thought them to be.

A hugely disappointing day - only made worse by this sham of a Q and A session. Defeat, premature sacking and then this bollocks.

It's not prime minister's question time though is it Victor Meldrew!? he can't answer everything because some of it is too sensitive and not professional to be pinned on a discussion board

Edited by Frickin Saweet (02 Jan 2011 11.08am)

Well, according to PassDribbleShoot, he drives racing cars so would have no problem in tackling a Q&A session!

If you read back - it is accepted that some questions are too sensitive etc - particularly those about prospective new managers. However, I still think that the questions were answered selectively and am unhappy with some of the other answers given.

It is great that we have owners who are prepared to talk to us - but that does not automatically make them right. I'll certainly not follow them blindly or without challenge.

Right SW2Eagle..... or to anyone else because SW2Eagle can't see any holes in his post:

"I think you've missed some very good, important questions, but I appreciate you've had a great many fired at you in a short space of time. I realise you can't name your targets here and now, and would not expect you to."

Will keep this simple.....he's not a child he can handle himself.

No one is asking you to follow them blind but they made their decision (which after yesterday was the right one IMO) and hope they continue to make such decisions as custodians of our beloved Crystal Palace.

The only thing I am selectivly not answering is 'who will be our next manager'

other than that everything you asked has been addressed somewhere but to be clear for you.

I said that if we had won the game it would have depended on the performance as to whether George would have been sacked or not.

We have lost more games than anyone in the football league, we have conceded more goals, what would a manager have to do if you were in charge to get the sack?

I have also made it clear I was not happy with the lack of cover we have brought in for key players in the summer and in the window, especially given the budget that was available in the loan window, specifically 17 grand a week just so you don't say i havent put a number on it. which for the record could have probabaly got all three players on loan I have mentioned.

Your second point is wrong, decimated means to a value of 10% of what was there. We lost two first team regular players from the end of the season that we couldn't have kept.

Also a managers job is to pick players to bring in and the ones to let go.

I agree a few months is not enough time to shape and build a squad completly but its been 6 months and I think we could expect to see some progress.

We are not the only team that gets injuries , have problems etc.

Less of a sham PR stunt now?

If you're still not happy we can have a chat at Preston

Edited by CPFC2010 (02 Jan 2011 2.09am)

SW2 - did you go to millwall? because I did and I can honestly say that it was the worst performance I've ever seen. that includes getting beat away at grimsby 5-2!

Julian Speroni touched the ball with his feet more times in this game than he normally would do in a whole season, everything was so negative.

I was a massive GB fan up until yesterday, I thought the football we were playing had the makings of something very special. But when things don't go your way you need a contingency plan, the players are going to be effected by losing more than they win & if you keep playing the same way and losing (Which we were) then they are going to lose faith in the system.

2010 to their credit, acted. Doing nothing has consequences too you know? If we got relegated with GB you would be saying "why didnt we get rid after Millwall..?"

now if the players are "sad for GB but determind to put it right" as steve says - then they will do it with Dougie at the helm. The guy bleeds red and blue. If they won't do it under his stewardship then you've gotta wonder who's they will because he is Mr Crystal Palace in my opinion.

Get to Selhurst and give dougie and the boys the support DOUGIE deserves on Monday.

Ok - I've highlighted my two main areas of contention.

Firsly, Moses and Fonte left as a direct result of our financial difficulties - and we could not replace them at the time due to a transfer embargo. Therefore, no matter when they left, they had to be replaced and were key players - so it is very misleading to suggest otherwise.

Secondly - why oh why to people still confuse a lack of confidence with a lack of effort? I've no doubt we were awful yesterday, but to suggest we didn't try is absolutly ridiculous.

The middle part of your post is entirely speculative and doesn't really mean anything. The point is, Mr Parish himself said Burley may not have been sacked had we played better yesterday. This remains concerning - either he wasn't good enough and they were thinking about replacements, or he was and they weren't. It stinks of a 'fan's reaction' - we've lost to our rivals and we've reacted. A shame.

Finally, and STILL the crucial point - at the start of the season most of us predicted that we'd struggle this season and it would be a decent achievement to stay up. Why are we now surprised to be in a scrap?

JUST ONE GAME THOUGH!

No, I didn't go and I'm sure I'd have been gutted with the performance had I been there. I still wouldn't have based such a big decision on one game.

I'll be there on Monday though - and of course I'll be behind the team. I'm certainly not the type to even threaten to stay away because I'm unhappy with a certain decision. I kept coming when Warnock was appointed - and nobody could make a more disappointing decisionin my eyes than appointing him!

Ultimately, I'm concerned about the direction we're heading in right now just as everybody else is - it's vital we get this next appointment right, especially as it's been timed so badly and the transfer window is already upon us.

it ranges from s***, stupid, repetitive questions being asked, to people complaining that their questions weren't answered (mine weren't, my toys are still in the pram) to people recommending Steve 'keep his mouth shut' and others damning it a publicity stunt!

Prin_cpfc, you have come across as a right spoiled, unreasonable, attention-seeking brat. I have no idea how old you are but if you're anything over 17 years old, it's very worrying.
Steve Parish doesn't have to answer directly to you (or anyone) and even when he does, you STILL continue to snipe and whinge. "I hope i still feel awful so i don't go on Monday."

Pathetic. Stay away Monday and try to grow up.

Before I reply to your rubbish can you answer one question, did you also think I was being serious about the sexism thing as well?

Ah well

SW2Eagle I do respect your opinion, and how firmly you are sticking to it. I was surprised that Burley wasn't given more time and that considering the position after admin it was going to take time to set the club back on the right track.

However, I do think that if the cpfc2010 have a million quid to invest in players that handing over that cash - which is all they will be willing to risk this season - to someone they had lost faith in would be very difficult to do.

I think once Steve Parish went onto the BBS that there was a lot of annoyance that came out that the side hadn't been strengthened by further loans while other clubs had taken advantage. And that the players he signed hadn't delivered a stronger side.

Once Chairmen / Owners don't have it in their heart (or stomach) to fund a manager at a football club (at a sensible level) its best to move on quickly.

I am very disappointed that Burley didn't work out but I am supporting CPFC2010 and Dougie tomorrow.

I think this has now become the top post.

Glad that there are a few who appreciate SP's efforts and respect him and CPFC2010 for what they are doing.
