In 2021, the independent Wealth Tax Commission recommended that the government introduced a one-off 1% wealth tax on households with more than £1m, which they said would generate £260bn, more than enough to cover a year's funding of the NHS and social care spending. LOL Independent perhaps unbiased I think not. The name of the commission gives the game away I would be more amazed if they said no need to raise taxes. It's a pressure group by any other name. Britain is not an equal society, the wealthy do not pay their fair share, and the idea that this somehow benefits us is obviously totally wrong, as, after another 13 years of this failure, we would not find ourselves in the situation we are now in.
If you provide figures then I will make comment. Just Google or search how much the top 10% pay in tax compared to the minions then state why they should pay more !

Just doing it for you SY the top 1% of earners pay around 28% of the tax take. Not bad for greedy bstards really. How’s your accounts for the hotel. Maybe publish them so we can see your contribution and then agree that people pay their way.

Giving more in tax to governments is like giving whisky to an alcoholic. The idea that higher taxes will enrich our future is like basing your financial plans on winning the Lottery.

Are we in the last days of the Conservatives? The government debt pile grew to more than 100% of annual GDP for the first time since 1961, in May. That was near the end of the tories 13 years of misrule, the timing could not be more apt. Most striking are the prominent Conservatives rubbishing their old model. In an FT article headlined “Capitalism as we know it has failed”, Theresa May’s former chief of staff, Nick Timothy, argued that the UK economy created a nation of “serfs to debt, trapped by low pay and bloated assets”. Britain, he wrote, had been hooked on cheap credit and ripped off by financial engineering. Michael Gove, levelling-up secretary, laments a “culture of dutiless rights and commercial calculation”. Are they looking for a way out, a form of capitalism that will work, realising that theirs has failed? There is something in the water. William Hauge had an article in 'The Times' this week about migration that might as well have been in 'Morning Star'. As I have said plenty of times, I am convinced that the Tories are deliberately looking to get massacred in the next election because they want Labour to take us back into the EU and not get caught up in the fallout. But anybody who still wants to waste time playing the Blue v Red game need to really take a long look at themselves. As things stand, there is no choice. Or else they all know that something huge is coming down the tracks that will change everything. Because very very little makes any kind of sense at the moment.

I'm starting to believe William Hague gets pegged at this point.

Throw in Starmer and the stunts he has pulled since also, oddly enough, coming into Parliament in 2015 and being gifted a safe seat, and now looking like the new PM Elect, and so so much is not adding up unless you accept it is all a stitch up.

Rather amusingly the market rates that did for Truss are now higher....yet not a peep. He's their man. It's only a democracy on paper.
