What other solution is there other than he accepts the conditions that the Premier League provide the players and play, or not play because he believes it to be the safer choice for him and his family and come to an agreement with his employer (with the aid of the PFA)? Live apart from his from his son temporarily perhaps? I’m glad you’ve realised the only solution available. But a bit naive to expect that the player and PFA will agree with no pay, because they definitely will not, or the club be happy with paying players who won’t make arrangements but still expect £100k per week. And on the Heskey matter, all you’ve done is talk about empathy. Empathy isn’t a solution. You’ve been listening to too much Jeremy Corbyn.

Empathy should absolutely be a consideration when asking a person to go back to work with potential health consequences. Doesn’t matter what the profession, street cleaner or professional footballer. It’s not a solution but should be a consideration when trying to come to a solution.

If you want to aim your frustration at anyone you should do it at the footballers and teammates of black players that don’t want to be isolating with their squads. And maybe the black players should do the same. Sounds like none have. Just a retired footballer nobody takes any notice of to me. Edited by Rudi Hedman (30 May 2020 1.24pm)

In an ideal world, perhaps some kind of Utopia (Thomas Moore?) if you needed to not go to work, you wouldn't. However, the reality is that business is business and we are all going back to work, like it or lump it. I don't particularly like work but I guess I prefer it to destitution. There are going to be less and less free rides going forward, if I am reading the situation at all correctly. Edited by ASCPFC (30 May 2020 2.01pm)

Yeah, and you're right about being careful about where we source our food from in order to prevent a recurrence. I think the activists, though, give a light into factory farming and if not for them most people wouldn't have much of an idea as the meat industry is not really very open in revealing what goes on inside the large scale farms.

999 covid calls are at only 50 a day for the entire country among the vulnerable age group, Rnumber of 0.6 in the community away from care homes where the real problem is yet they look for the worst possible stuff to announce. 92 calls to 999 from the whole population. But the press continue scaring everyone. Edited by Rudi Hedman (30 May 2020 3.52pm)

I bet it is! As a matter of interest, what prompted your son to go vegan? Does he share your views on factory farms or do you avoid the subject for the sake of family harmony? Not being flippant am honestly interested Same as most young people I think. Climate change is a big part. He took the view that if he was going to change his habits it was best to go the whole way. Otherwise you slide back into old habits He does recognise that in truth some animal husbandry is important to slow the degradation of the soil. He coped quite well when my daughter left this outside the dining room window Attachment: 6D7CA23C-CBDB-4EF8-A04E-D41395BE25AF.jpeg (219.58Kb)

And people breaking in is why the farms get so security conscious. We need to get a better balance in the debates
