I can't recall any English batsman who could play a situation of 54-5 like Joe Root. He makes it seem like a normal event. Approaching parity but not impressed by our top order.

Those of us of a certain age will lament the passing of those great West Indies sides of the 70s and 80s with a seemingly endless supply of great batsmen and bowlers. I remember the look of bewilderment on the faces of some of our batsmen when facing their pace bowlers, especially Brian Close ( pre helmet days) v Michael Holding.
