I agree with Hrolf it’d be a bad decision to lose him too soon for two reasons: it’s a pleasure seeing him play for Palace and selling Kenny Sansom seemed to upset the team at the time. Not to compare them but good full backs aren’t easily replaced.

And one player is not worth more on the pitch if you can get more players making the team better, and I saw that claim maybe covering Will your answer be affected by the fact we can’t score at home or by a centre forward on our books or by a central midfielder and isn’t Benteke into his last season?

Yes they are but there’s something in the way he plays that suits the side. Maybe I’m trying to justify not letting him go and am not facing the pragmatic reality. Wouldn’t be the first time.

We have creditors of £134m including an advance of £29m from future premier league money Our biggest problem is when a club buys a player the cost is amortised over the length of the players contract, so a £40m player on 4 year contract means we pay £10m a year for next 4 years on accounts. When we sell a player the full amount is recognised in the accounts the year of the sale. So when we sold Bolasie, Gayle, Jedi etc we brought in £45 and bought £92m of players but due to amortisation, we showed an EBITDA of £11m in 2017. Without selling players every now and then we will not post any profits at all and will rely on being bank rolled by owners/loans. *I will caveat this with I am not an accountant, I merely have a very basic understanding of accounts and the above could be wrong. Happy to be corrected on any of it.

Dom Fifield has written this today. Dom's a Palace fan and normally fairly reliable.

Dominic Fifield now reposting on the proposed transfer of AWB so I now give credence to the story.

Why don't people understand simple concepts? One more time. A team like Palace cannot attract top quality because it has little to offer. Wan Bissaka is top class, which is why he is wanted by United. One more time. Top home grown players are worth more than money to Palace because we can't sign top players with all the money in the world.

That will always be the case. Always has, always will, and AWB will want to be with superior players. (I forgot to post that he will see this as a once in a lifetime opportunity, which most Man U potential signings do, including Zaha) How inferior do you anticipate this guy to be? Isn’t this kind of level of player we’re scouting good enough for you or you or us? ‘Palace are already exploring their options over a replacement for Wan-Bissaka, and contact has been made with the Belgian international Timothy Castagne. The Atalanta defender, capped five times, has spent the last two seasons in Serie A and made 28 top-flight appearances as they finished third and qualified for the Champions League last season.’
