Pointless discussing this really but since you ask.
Spurs,Chelsea,Arsenal,Man U,Liverpool,Middlesbro, Southampton,Reading,Wolves,Charlton,Millwall,Wigan,Sunderland. I'm sure there are more. All clubs that have had new grounds or significant rebuilds where as we haven't had a significant improvement for over 20 years.

I'm not saying we had the finance or that it is easy but I am saying plenty of other clubs have rebuilt and I'm sure they had plenty of hurdles to jump as well.

I can also think of Derby, Huddersfield, Stoke, Swansea, Coventry and Hull.

And as I have stated before I worry whether the roads around the ground could actually cope with this increased capacity.

Maybe a 'Park and Ride' from Croydon etc etc could be considered.

Yeah it's difficult. Can be really difficult to park nearby on matchdays as it is.

See how many 'Sainsbury's locals' they want us to build them in exchange for the big one on Whitehorse lane.
I reckon 6 would do it.

They've been refurbishing the "fan zone" behind the main stand for the past six months with little progress being made.So I am not holding my breath for any work on the stadium any time soon.

I'm not sure I'd hurry that along knowing it'll be bulldozed as soon as any development work starts.

Sainsbury's have us by the proverbials & will no doubt hold out for silly money.

I'm already boycotting them because they are expensive and poor qaulity. Lidl or the coop for me. The Selhurst store is particularly bad.and the car park is always empty.

I always felt they missed a trick when ikea went up in Purley, just imagine that being the new home of palace, with the two towers being known as the 'palace towers' with red and blue.

Was an old power station and the store opened early 90s, with the tram and all that parking, would have been ideal.

'Park and Ride' would be difficult if not impossible from Croydon as where would you find a car park to utilise?

If capacity is going to be increased by 9,000-14,000 at Selhurst Park fans would be wiser to travel to matches by train. The roads approaching and surrounding the ground will not be able to cope with the increase in traffic and on street parking which is already pretty poor will decline further.
Rail companies will have to provide more stopping services at Norwood Junction, Selhurst and Thornton heath on match nights to cater for the increase in demand (hopefully outside of any industrial action!!!).

Why?

I'd say because the Purley Way is already one massive traffic jam at the weekend and in rush hour & has no real train service (from a logistical point of view.)

Ultimately, it's nowhere near Selhurst/Crystal Palace/SE25 either. This Club's fanbase (and target audience) is local so a move away, even a relatively short distance, would compromise the future fan base.
